3 ★ Update: Google updated chat and it now works again. Putting 3 stars for bad experience. ------- Chat suddenly stopped showing notifications in Android Auto. It seems to be related to a recent update. Edit: I followed the suggestion from Google, it had nothing to do with Android Auto and I was already set to get notifications. My 1-star review remains accurate. If I want a message in Android Auto, I need to text instead of using Chat.

4 ★ Works pretty well. Interface for sharing videos is clunky, and I had to find a workaround to share any sort of audio note if the recipient wasn't able to take a direct call at that moment. Audio quality was pretty good for calls, but didn't use video calls very much so no experience in that regard

4 ★ I wish you quit changing the icon and showing a different icon when someone sends a text as it is hard to notice when there is a text sent. It needs to be more pronounced. To me, it looks like a square and blends in like other icons at the notice of texts or alerts to check. I like the old icon before the new revision. I know you want to make changes, but sometimes, the updates are worse than the former icons.

3 ★ Last checked time is not available on here like it was in the older Hangouts version. It needs to tell you the time when the person you are messaging last checked their messages. I really miss this feature. It helps for my family that live out of town to see if I have been checking. If not then they need to contact me or my emergency contacts. PLEASE add this feature back. If not why can you not add it? I am looking at other apps, but would prefer to keep using this app.

2 ★ I am unsure of what transpired, but I have noticed that Google previously had a sophisticated messaging format resembling a genuine messaging application. However, it has now reverted back to a disorganized and ineffectual state. I must express my disappointment towards the alteration made by your team. The initial concept that your team devised was truly the most beneficial development for this application.

5 ★ I use this to text with my friends and it works great! Though I was wondering if you could add the option to change the format? In the newest version the format is now their texts on the left and mine on the right instead of the old version where all texts are on the left and I wish I had the option to choose which one I want. Other than that, love the app! :)

5 ★ Love this app but, I would like to be able to see my profile picture in the group spaces so it would be nice if you added that back in😊 I don't really like the new format I miss the old format the 🔵 text bubbles background is weird and when you swipe left or right on message it trys to reply to it or edit it.. though I do like my messages being on the right side and the others on the left but ..... If I add a number reactions to my own messages it flips it for other people and is weird.

1 ★ Years later, this is still the worst messaging app on the market. It butchers every picture or video you send with it, among all the previous issues I've listed not being fixed. Nobody has ever sent a picture, and just wished the resolution would be compressed so much that everyone can no longer read any text in the image. 2023: NOW THE ICON LOOKS LIKE EVERY OTHER ONE...TERRIBLE User profile pictures are missing now after last update also.

2 ★ Editing the original to make it more concise: When I do this: *and I have text in asterisks*, I do not want it to automatically bold. I want to see the asterisks. The way formatting text on this app is, is aggravating. It gets forcibly formatted because of the markdowns tool. (The thing implemented into the app to automatically format the text.) I want there to be an option so you can MANUALLY, not AUTOMATICALLY, format text. It's aggravating. This isn't "convenient" to everyone.

2 ★ This app always bothered me as a downgrade from hangouts, but now when I set my status as "away," every time I open the app it resets it to active. Sometimes I want the freedom to quickly browse texts but not necessarily respond to all of them. So I want to leave my status as "away." It used to work in all of the sudden it stopped working.

1 ★ There's never useful info under "What's New", so I dont know what I get when I tap Update. It always says "Current version, for Google Workspace Customers only, includes direct messages, group chats, and platform integration with Google Apps". They said they'll review it, but nothing's changed. If the above and the app size doesn't bother you, then download this instead of enabling it in Gmail for easier share sheets, separated notifications, and separated Focus Mode and Do Not Disturb settings

1 ★ You're help is useless. Perhaps I am having a problem due to something else on my phone. I have tried every single setting I could find and something is broken. Still can't get this piece of garbage app to make a noise every single time I received a message. If my wife sends me a list of 10 different things she wants from the grocery store I want 10 separate noises.

2 ★ Buggy. When I select something to share via CHAT, it sometimes gives me a choice of a seemingly random list contacts (with the most important missing of course), or sometimes it just offers all of them listed alphabetically (so then I have to scroll through pretty much all of them), kinda depends on it's mood or so. Go figure.. I'd expect a much better app from Google. Google team responded with a generic link on how to fix issues on apps but it is useless since this bug is so specific.

4 ★ For the most part it's good! The only issues are 1) the status function on my phone (granted it's old) doesn't really work, like I can't see other people's status's and can't set my own (ik it's still there since on my laptop i can see + set them) And 2) I haven't had this happen in a bit but it used to just not send images sometimes and it would stay as "sending" until I deleted and reinstalled the app

1 ★ Google Chat is slow, it's glitchy, it has a habit of failing to deliver messages for minutes to hours. It also refuses to make a notification sound if additional messages are received, meaning if I miss ONE message I will not receive any additional notifications. I have only refrained from switching messaging apps due to inertia. do not use this app if you have a choice.
