Description

Google Authenticator adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts by adding a second step of verification when you sign in.
This means that in addition to your password, you'll also need to enter a code that is generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone.

The verification code can be generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone, even if you don't have a network or cellular connection.

* Sync your Authenticator codes to your Google Account and across your devices. This way, you can always access them even if you lose your phone.
* Set up your Authenticator accounts automatically with a QR code. This is quick and easy, and it helps to ensure that your codes are set up correctly.
* Support for multiple accounts. You can use the Authenticator app to manage multiple accounts, so you don't have to switch between apps every time you need to sign in.
* Support for time-based and counter-based code generation. You can choose the type of code generation that best suits your needs.
* Transfer accounts between devices with a QR code. This is a convenient way to move your accounts to a new device.
* To use Google Authenticator with Google, you need to enable 2-Step Verification on your Google Account. To get started visit http://www.google.com/2step

4 ★ Google! You need to make this process simple when we purchase new devices ---- there is not enough information available to easily guide users how to transfer accounts to new devices.... however the process can be done in seconds once you have the know how. The problem I experienced is my authenticator app on my old device was not updated, hence there was no transfer accounts in the menu option..... once I updated, the export and import was easy as!

5 ★ If you have someone using your platform with your account on. I'd recommend downloading this app and turn on 2-Step Verification to your account to prevent them from getting inside your account. But here's an important thing, losing this app while you have 2-Step Verification on your accounts will lock you out forever. So it's recommended to setup up another security method to get into your account if you lose this app.

1 ★ As basic and barebones as they come and for an authenticator app that's not a good thing. The most surprising thing about this app is that there is no option to lock the app so that it requires a password or biometrics to get in. What's even more dangerous as others have mentioned is that there are no options to securely backup so if you ever reset, break or lose your phone there is no way to restore. My suggestion is to use Microsoft authenticator, much better implementation and options.

3 ★ Just a warning to everyone. When you factory set your smart phone obviously back up all of the data first on another digital device. BUT make sure that you back up this app because once it has been deleted off you will lose all of your codes to and you will be locked out of all your online accounts. Google please make this clear to people before they factory reset their phones.

4 ★ Hey Devs, Backup probably is not what Google Authenticator will have. But, it would be very good to have a sort of backup with List of Websites (or Auth Name) so that we can keep track of what web services we have used google Authenticator with, even if we lost our device. Like list of Websites/App backup to Google Keep may be or Drive etc. Thanks.

1 ★ This is the worst app that I've downloaded. The codes are working, I never had an issue in activating the 2FA but now I can't log in because all the codes that I entered is invalid. I tried syncing the time for correction codes, made sure the time on my phone and on my PC are set in auto but it still provides me with an invalid 6-digit OTPs. No wonder why there are alot of negative comments here about this app.

1 ★ All the people that have rated this app more than 1 star have clearly not had to factory reset their phone or haven't broken it accidentally before. Cheers Google. I really wanted to spend God knows how long now contacting all the different websites and services I use to try and recover my accounts because your useless sack of s*** app can't securely back my codes up and link them to my account like you do with every f***ing thing else.

1 ★ I transferred my account to a new phone, and it asked me to confirm an account key, which worked ok, then asked me to enter a code from the authenticator app, which went through ok, but when I try to use the app via 2-step verification, it constantly says there has been a problem with the code, please try again

1 ★ I would not recommend this app. After my phone was damaged I could not log in to some of my accounts cause I needed a verification code. I tried to transfer my accounts over to a new phone but I could not do that cause it told me to scan a qr code that I needed from my old phone that was broken. I can not even remove the accounts from another device from this app. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS APP

1 ★ Once you lose your phone or your phone is been damaged and you lost your authenticator, it's impossible to regain access to your accounts. Would suggest not use this app there's no recovery option. There are other authenticator apps which are far better than this app.

1 ★ DO NOT USE: I am permanently locked out of my account online and Google doesn't have an answer to opening or resetting the accounts so you can have access again. The only answer they have is to "sync" the time, it doesn't work. It does not work unless you do everything right before. If you do use the authenticator, make sure to turn it off on all accounts BEFORE you switch devices. I couldn't with mine since my previous phone was destroyed. And now I'm here to say what I wish I knew before.

5 ★ This app has got so much better now that you can scan the QR code and transfer all of the2-step verification secrets what you already have onto another device. Especially useful if you transfer device get a new tablet or just want to give someone else access to your account. The last comment with a little tongue in cheek added.

5 ★ Love the new transfer all accounts. You have no idea how awesome it is to be able to do this. The years I have spent keeping screenshots of QR codes is nuts. I no longer need to do this. Thank you. Finally someone has made a useful update with something useful.

1 ★ I will never use this again! When I lost my phone, I lost my GA app. Now I've been blocked from my email account I've had for over a decade including access to my Google Drive full of important data. Despite having the right password, backup email account, phone number, answer to personal question, Google will not give me access or offer another option. If you do decide to use this, make sure you write the 8 backup codes on your forehead, without them you're never getting your account back.

1 ★ I would give google as a whole zero out out 5 if I could. There are sites (ubisoft) that forces you to use this, and its easier for your account to get hacked then it is to restore it. I like the principle of this, but it to damn complex to use if user needs to fix there account if they have to install on a new phone or pc.
