Description
--- pre-K and kindergarten kids will learn hundreds of child friendly words through pictures, text, and audio, exploring child-friendly categories such as Animals (dogs, pets, farm, zoo, pretend), Clothing Store (clothes, accessories, hats, shoes, sewing), Grocery Store (fruits and nuts, vegetables, bakery), House (furniture, kitchen, household), and Mall (toys, music, sports, tools). Kids can explore words in categories or play fun quizzes picking target words from among four picture options.

First of all great entertainment for kids, Brainy Words is the latest development in an incredibly successful pre-literacy program. The game builds on a DVD and website (hearatale.org) which raised mean vocabulary scores for 459 at-risk Title I kindergarten students from the 27th to the 47th percentile in eight months. Three years later on their statewide 3rd grade reading exams these children scored in the highest of three ranges 35% more often than their peers, and in the lowest range less than half as often (7.6% vs. 16.13%).
