5 ★ The game was really fun, but a lot of walking. We brought some ten-year-olds who were a little whiny because it was too much walking for them. Next time we'll do adults only. The clues were well thought out,and the story interesting. We were able to solve the mystery, but not too soon. The pieces fell into place at the end. We really liked how you didn't have to walk back to characters to talk to them again once you had unlocked them.
2 ★ We tried a Alice in Wonderland clueupp game with our android os phone this weekend. I want to say that the art, the puzzles and the ideas in general are beautifully laid out. However, the app was not functional for the android platform. The error we experienced was, whenever the app opened to box text it froze the app. I hope this helps the developers because it is an interesting clue experience, but if we hadn't had iOS phones on our team, we wouldn't have know.
4 ★ Nice app, good idea behind it. It's nice to get out into the city and walk around. It took a bit to understand the app, but that was sorted in 5-10 minutes. Clues were on the easy side for me, but one was a bit wonky. Will most likely be doing this again next time It's in my town. Would have liked the option for a rain date, I did get soaked. Also would have liked to have more to do with the actual town I was in. Use the names of the building and business that are local.
3 ★ The app is easy to use and syncs up pretty well between players. The location services the app uses is terrible though. They really need to take some tips from the pokemon go playbook and slightly increase the radius. There were multiple times today when we couldnt activate a location. The game and mystery was fun though but would have enjoyed some more interactive moments in real life or in the app. Otherwise its very much "go here and read this" and the minigames or puzzles too easy or boring.
2 ★ with a Android Samsung A53 the game got stuck at most of the text pop ups. The window stayed open blocking the rest of the game until you rebooted the whole app. one mini game needed two reboots, I could see the timer ticking down in the background but couldn't do anything with the text window in the way! Had to reboot over a dozen times. It is a good game but such a massive bug is a huge problem. All apps need to be tested on multiple devices!
1 ★ Very glitchy w/ location completion, some games are really confusing, no real way to get help or move forward if something doesn't work right, had to complete some steps several times to move on, nothing decorated, costumes optional, no character interaction except if you accidentally bump into dressed up strangers in the street, just has you walk around a few city blocks w/ a lot of reading in the bright daylight, making it hard to see phone screens...just not worth the cost at all.
1 ★ App was very flawed. At some point we had to go back and get 3 POIs that we had already got. Only app that worked well was the leader. I had to reload the app about 15 times throughout the event which added a lot of waiting time to our final time. we didn't want to pause because we might lose POIs like previously done in the beginning of the game.
2 ★ We did the Alice in Wonderland game. It was ok. It would be better if it incorporated physical locations more. A lot of the stops were in random places with nothing interesting to look at location wise. It felt like we could have played it anywhere. Ours was in Denver in the Civic Center Park area. There are so many landmarks that could have been used. It felt thown together. The storyline was cheesy. The app was kinda glitchy too, I had to keep logging back in.
3 ★ Took way too long, especially with two elementary aged kids! No outward physical landmarks, everything was identified through the app's gps. Nice that you don't have to go back to past locations to finish quests, but we still felt like we were walking in circles! Got penalized when my phone lagged and wasn't in the exact location marked. Cheshire Cat gives you coins that don't matter? Great fun for a day trip, interesting app features, but don't bring young kids! Loved everyone's costumes!
1 ★ The app worked as it should, but the "game/event" was misadvertised as an experience with the streets of your chosen city transformed. It's basically a one day/one chance, expensive version of Pokemon go featuring Alice in Wonderland. The puzzles were entertaining, but not worth the price to pay for it, especially since there is no one at the event itself, let alone decorations of any sort. We were a bit disappointed and frankly a bit confused at the beginning because of the lack of staff.
2 ★ Game was fun. User interface needs serious work. Randomly ejected or froze users and when attempting to return to the game, the game in play was not an available option. Some clue fonts were too small to read with no apparent ADA or zoom options. Incorrectly let multiple users on the same team register as the team leader at the same time which would then confuse the game stats. Overall a fun but frustrating experience. Will play again but hopefully improvements are made.
2 ★ Great idea, terrible execution. - There's no relationship at all between the locations you go to and the story in the app, so all the walking required is purely a way to pad the "game time" and adds nothing to the game experience. You're just running around looking at your phone. - The game happened in a part of town where I would not feel safe walking around with kids. I don't think the people who make the games actually scope out the location. - The "puzzles" are poorly written and most of them made no sense in the context of the game. - Most of the pre-selected questions you could ask witnesses were completely useless, and even the ones that seemed relevant rarely yielded useful information in their answers. Same for the Informants. Aside from a few inconsistencies in the narrative, the actual story was decent. Enough pieces scattered around in various interactions to give you several paths to find the answer without making it too obvious. Two stars for at least getting that part right.
1 ★ A great concept squandered completely due to horrible tech and operations. Instructions didn't indicate clearly how teams were to join in support of the team leader, or in what order, or when. Our team got stuck for hours w/the leader accessing all the clues but everyone else stuck on a screen where their only option was to take over team leadership or back out. A game meant to be played together wasn't. No staff at the event, no decorations like implied in all the ads. Extremely disappointed.
3 ★ What a fun game! Great way for a group to spend time together and get some exercise! Some of the location zones were too small for phones to register. It would also be nice to do it in a place with more public bathroom options. Timing didn't work well with the set up for the Austin Marathon. But it was a good price and difficulty level for all kinds of groups.
1 ★ I Never bother to rate apps. That being said, this is an absolutely Awful app. Worked Maybe 10% of the time. Had to constantly close and reopen. Games didn't work more often than not with them either getting stuck on the game intro or locking up in the middle of the game or just not giving the option to join. Would give it Zero stars if I could.
