THINK STRATEGY!
Every opponent has four warriors and one elder at their disposal. The objective is simple: win the battle. To do so, you must either capture your opponent's elder or take their place in the temple arch. The game is easy to play, but you'll need time to become a true master. Although, not really... Onitama is the ideal strategy game for exercising your mind, as you'll have to think ahead about moves! The moves you're allowed to make are determined by five cards which are drawn at random, shown face-up, and shared between players. Each card corresponds to an animal and sets out a specific move that you have to follow. When you play a card, you must place it between you and your opponent and pick up the previously played card, and so on. This way, both players have the exact same chance of winning the game.

The key to success in this simple, elegant type of combat is to stay calm and concentrate. The Shrine of Onitama is a sacred ground where foresight is necessary. Animal spirits will guide you on the perilous path and allow you to gain true wisdom. In short, it's an elegant and simple game that captures the essence of martial arts. Play against the computer on your own, or against your friends. Fight duels on the same device using pass and play mode. Bored of beating your friends? Connect your Asmodee account and face the best players in the world online! You can also customize your game with new boards, pieces, and music, or get a pack of 16 additional cards by purchasing extensions.

5 ★ Nice and straightforward game. Like all good games are supposed to be, Onitama is easy to learn and hard to master. The element of luck is almost nonexistent, as you will win mostly by applying the right strategy. If you like board games, this is a must have.
4 ★ Great game,easy to learn but hard to master and I spend alot of time playing it. The extra content (which you don't absolutely have to have,thank you)aren't overpriced.My only complaint is the animations could be a bit better,since it is martial art based after all.
5 ★ Love this game! It would be nice to have an advanced mode where the card you use can be used by the opponent right away. But more importantly: I'd like to see the possibility to play asynchronously, without timeouts, with move notifications.
5 ★ Top notch production, amazing for a free app. The two lower levels of the AI are a bit of a push-over, but on the highest level it gives me (for one) a good challenge. Wish list to improve this great app even further: 1. Option to hand-pick the cards for a game, all or some (and randomise the rest, as in the Santorini app). 2. Inclusion of the 5 missing promo cards and those 6 cards from the Japanese first edition that didn't make it into the American edition. 3. Option to design and save your own custom movement cards (one can always dream...).
5 ★ It's like chess but easier to start playing. I haven't seen any ads yet in single player which is a nice bonus.
4 ★ As a fan of the board game, it's great to have a faithful digital version I can take with me. The AI is decent, but I've got a nagging problem with online play. The game will suddenly give me a warning that I've lost my internet connection, in spite of the fact that I haven't. I can, surprisingly, get back to the game by tapping on the appropriate boxes, but it's quite annoying. I had the same problem trying to register, eventually being able to do so. It's still a great app, though.
4 ★ The game itself is amazing. i love the graphics, music, animation etc. But joining in a friend's game online or inviting a friend is not happening. help me to do it. Plz fix this.
5 ★ I love Onitama! Played it when ivisited Yokohame in early 2000's with my guide/translator on the ride in. Thank you! How aboit some in game credits and more pawns? Would rate 6 STARS then
3 ★ Onitama is a fantastic strategy game. Looks great too along with soothing music. However, the app keeps logging out frequently. Had to reset password once (because I'd forgotten). I could log in then immediately, but once I exit the game, it automatically logs me out and the next time doesn't accept the password. Was forced to reset password everytime I wanted to play and finally gave up. Uninstalled. I would have been really glad if it worked smoothly.
5 ★ This is an awesome Chess like game and is very fun on multiplayer! I am very satisfied with it.
5 ★ It's a perfect on the go chess alike. A game only need a couple of minute but leaves a fulfilling battle. Even the game dynamics are simple but keeps changing just like a chest with really simple rules. Perfect games... About the apps, right know maybe feels really simple and functional with online or head to head offline, that the key feature. Hope the next update gives more gimmick like theme or what ever collectible.

5 ★ Perfect. Simple. Fun. I wish more apps struck this particular sweet spot. Looks great, not rinky-dink. Minimal gacha. No ads. Perfect.
3 ★ Fun, but only as fun as it can get with playing with the ai. No one is ever online. Game is completely dead unfortunately.
4 ★ Nice game but are there enough players? When I select quick play, it takes forever to match me with a random player... So I just stick to playing with the AI
