Description

Digitally remastered in HD for mobile devices and with new, never-before-seen animated cutscenes, it’s time to run the cerebral marathon with Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

The tale begins as Professor Layton, a true English gentleman and famous archeologist, drives to the remote settlement of St. Mystere with his apprentice, Luke, in response to a request from the widow of a wealthy baron. The baron’s will indicates that the family treasure, the Golden Apple, is hidden somewhere within the village, and whoever finds it will inherit the whole of the Reinhold Estate. The Professor and Luke must search the town for clues leading to the precious heirloom.

Featuring a distinctive artistic style that oozes old-world charm, the game’s quirky cast of characters instantly comes to life. The animated cutscenes, remastered in HD, tell key parts of the tale in gorgeous detail. And ever-present in the background, the original soundtrack, beloved by many players, keenly captures the mood of the Layton universe.

Based on the "Atama no Taisou" (lit. "Head Gymnastics") books by Akira Tago, Professor Layton and the Curious Village brings together more than 100 brain teasers including slide puzzles, matchstick puzzles, and even trick questions to flex players’ observation, logic, and critical thinking skills. In addition, rather than just selecting challenges from a list, players uncover puzzles through conversations with the villagers or by investigating their surroundings.

If you are obsessed with mind-bending puzzles, Professor Layton and the Curious Village is for you!

Game Features:
• 1st installment of the Layton Series
• Over 100 puzzles, designed by Akira Tago, that can be tackled on the way to solving the case
• New! Exclusive, never-before-seen animation footage
• Beautifully remastered in HD for mobile devices
• Engaging mini-games that include collecting gizmos and pieces of a mysterious painting, as well as pursuing side characters
• Offline play after initial download

This game can be played in Englishand French only.

5 ★ Fantastic game and adapted to mobile perfectly. Definitely worth the purchase, I just wish they would bring the HD version of the original trilogy to Switch.

4 ★ Beautiful, engaging, challenging; a triumph of a remake. There are, unfortunately two points that prompt me to remove a star. Firstly, a small fraction of the puzzle solutions are contrived to be so superfluously 'out-of-the-box' that they border on the nonsensical. Lastly, I hoped to share this game with my children, but an outburst of pseudo-chivalry by the main character barely into the prologue makes it clear this title is not for the malleable modern mind.

2 ★ Some puzzles are fun but most are abstract garbage. You might as well just guess the number the devs were thinking when they wrote them. The storyline has no substance and was pretty boring. Some of the game content proved to be unlockable even after meeting the criteria. The on screen hit detection is also not properly adapted for mobile phones. This game is definitely not worth what I paid.

5 ★ The graphics were great, and I really enjoyed the puzzles. Obviously the story was awesome as all Professor Layton games are, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anybody who enjoyes mystery and puzzles

5 ★ It doesnt get better than this. The original and best duo of Hershel Layton and Luke Triton. I wish all the new Layton game just stuck to the two main characters, they are just a better dynamic than the newer attempts. Please bring them back for new adventures using their original ages as Curious Village! Can't wait for Unwound Future.

5 ★ I'm only about 10 puzzles in yet, but it's pretty engaging so far. I have mostly already seen the puzzles I have come across already, these are just variations on those, so little bit disappointing in that regard. Good story, I'm excited to solve puzzles to see what happens next. I agree with others that the sound effects are too loud, but thankfully you can adjust the volume in the settings. One bigger annoyance is it doesn't use Play Games to link your account, so I had to create an account out of game, accept the email, go back into the game, and go through a cumbersome login process in the game. Having it be just 1 click would be nice. That's only if you want to sync progress across devices however. Worth $10? Not sure. $3 - $5? Absolutely!

5 ★ An amazing mobile experience. Not perfect- sometimes puzzles require a bit more finesse then a phone can reasonably provide- but overall, I have had a lot of fun with it and could recommend it to everyone. The puzzles are fun, the art direction unique, the main characters charming and the plot simple and fairy tail esque. A definite treat.

5 ★ Excellent game! My only complaint (and it's a minor one) is that it's unnecessarily difficult to erase notes I've made using the "memo" feature while solving puzzles, making the feature largely useless. Aside from that small thing, I very much enjoy this game.

5 ★ Fun puzzle game, just like the old Nintendo DS versions.

5 ★ Got this a while ago; I've been playing casually on and off and have loved every second of it. It's one of the best mobile ports from console I've seen. My only hang up is being an old time Layton fan, I want this on my switch; but I'll inevitably get that there with whatever else gets ported. I almost never double or triple dip, but for you Professor--this reminds me of a puzzle!

5 ★ Absolutely fantastic experience! If you're like me and you've never given the Professor Layton series a try SERIOUSLY buy this game and give it a go. Just wonderful and charming from beginning to end and satisfying to solve every puzzle. I ordered "The Diabolical Box" (the sequel) before I was even finished this game and I can't wait for it to arrive! Long story short: the perfect series to play with a warm drink on a rainy day curled up in some blankets.

5 ★ This is an excellent offline game with brain-teasing puzzles, substantial story, and graphics with personality. Caveats: the "solution" to the magic square puzzle is wrong, and you'll need to pixel hunt for Hint Tokens and Charms, which took me out of the game, but otherwise it's super-solid.

4 ★ I never has a chance to play this on DS so it was nice to find this in the Play Store. Found the story to be mediocre but it's a charming little game that is relaxing and fun to play. Most puzzles are a nice balance between difficult and solvable. Just be aware that some puzzles are more in the style of riddles than true logic puzzles, and pixel hunting for puzzles and hint coins can be tedious. Hope there will be more DS games put on mobile in the future as they are much more accessible.

5 ★ Worth it. Amazing story and I played it all the way through, which I usually am never able to do on phone games due to them being boring eventually. I loved this game! If you are looking for a game that has zero ads and challenging with a story that will take you by surprise then this is for you.

5 ★ Ok, I love the Layton series, but I've never had the opportunity to play Curious Village, which is a bummer. I'm glad I get to play! One nitpick though... During the buildup to and reveal of the puzzle solution, the music drowns out the voices... Can you fix that?
