The new spelling agreement introduces changes in the vocabulary of the English language. Although these changes have modified a small percentage of vocabulary, people have past difficulties to adapt to the new rules. Aimed at addressing this problem, the Educational Spelling Game (JOE) was developed. JOE focuses predominantly on the rules of accentuation and dash through gamification. The game was divided into two modes: training and challenge. In challenge mode, the current level of orthographic knowledge measured by the player score is checked. In order to train, every word comes with a tip relating to the rule that is practicing right now.
