Description
Two graphics editors, ported from PC. You will need mouse, stylus, or 10” screen to use them.
This app requires 1 Gb device storage (1.8 Gb during installation), and cannot be moved to SD card.
GIMP is an advanced picture editor, suitable for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.
Inkscape is a vector graphics editor, which has everything needed to create professional-quality computer art.
They both support stylus pressure. In Inkscape, you will need to enable Android touchscreen in File → Input Devices (see screenshots).
For best results, also enable Windows → Single Window Mode in GIMP.
Press Back key to show keyboard.
To send right mouse click - touch screen with two fingers, or press a button on your stylus.
To send middle mouse click - touch screen with three fingers, this will drag/scroll image in Gimp.
If you have Menu key, you can use it to undo last action.
If Open or Save dialog is frozen - open the keyboard using Back key, and press Enter or Esc key, you have to do that only once. If your keyboard does not have Esc key - install Hacker's Keyboard.
Finger hover is supported. If you have Galaxy S4/S5 or Note 3/4, enable AirView in system settings to use it.
To make all buttons bigger, and make it draw faster, select smaller display resolution during app start.

Do not uninstall this app if you have Android 4.4 or older - you will not be able to install it again, because of a bug in Android, which was fixed in Android 5.0.
Clear app data instead to save space - long-press app icon in drawer, drag it to App Info icon, and select Clear data.
To add fonts, copy them to directory Android/data/org.gimp.inkscape/files/gimp/fonts on your SD card.
To disable gyroscope, tap Change device config during app start, select Mouse emulation → Advanced → Gyroscope.
To set 24bpp color depth or portrait screen orientation, go to Change device config → Video.
To use dark color theme - double-click Root terminal icon on desktop, and type commands:

apt-get install murrine-themes
Confirm installation, then open Menu → Settings → Appearance, and select NOX theme.
Installing Debian packages with apt-get or dpkg does not work on Android 6.0 Marshmallow or newer.

5 ★ Yeah it's a bit glitchy and hard to get used too at first but it's the real Gimp and Inkscape on a mini Linux OS! It's not a watered down baby app for your phone it's computer version. Hey if you can port the real blender you will make my day. Awesome, thank you!
5 ★ I think the reason its not working for me is because my device is 64 bit. after i installed the zz version i got it to somewhat work but it keeps flickering. i tried it on my galaxy phone and it works which i know is 32 bit. i have a laptop with android 64 because 32 wouldn't operate well and would restart ever few min. so all and all its not inkscape that isnt working for me its debian. Anyway we can get it working for 64 bit? Thanks in advance!
4 ★ Works exactly as I expected. Only problem is accessing the pictures after :S Cant seem to read my sd card, but I will try external storage when I get more time.
5 ★ This is amazing. I have no idea how they pulled this off, but it's actually running a full Xfce environment in an Android app. Everything mostly works, even down to the pressure sensitivity on my S Pen on my Chromebook!
4 ★ I use it on HTC cellphone HTV31 Butterfly. Some offices do not allow personal computers, but I can use my phone. I have a wireless BT keyboard and mouse. I have been using linux and inkscape since 2011 my phone can do 2560x1480 but it is too small. so i changed the resolution to 1280x720 I also did that for the font size and it looks normal. i can save simple shape drawings and import into powerpoint. "bad point" gimp also opens up at start. but i just want to use is inkscape.

Post feedback in the appropriate places if you simply must (if you don't know where, you haven't earned the right). App is almost just proof-of-concept - but with large(ish), high-end, pen-equipped hardware (and a bit more work), who knows? Doesn't deserve a single 1* rating over incompatibilities, early development, or being incredibly ambitious. +Encourages improvements in hardware.
5 ★ It's amassing. It's not just gimp, they packaged both gimp and inkscape together with Linux desktop. It's the best image editing suit on a heldheld device. Don't listen to those stupid people who don't know how to use it or who but cheap phone without enough storage.
5 ★ I'm running this on a 40 dollar cheap tablet with 1 gig Ram and 8 gig hdd, runs great, even inkscape! The only issue is when trying to use apt-get, there are errors about python missing dependencies and apt-get install -f etc... won't fix it, then have to reinstall the whole download.... But if you just use inkscape and gimp, without messing around its all good. Finally real drawing on tablets....
3 ★ I've been using gimp on my PC for ten years or more, and I love it. There's never been anything I couldn't do with it for editing images. I didn't think it would work on a phone, but I had to try. It was no dice with such a small screen. I'll try again when I get a tablet.
1 ★ I have gimp on my pc. You just cant port gimp to android without adapting it more for tablet/android. Look at CLOVER Paint here on the play store to see what a windows type art studio app on look SHOULD look like. Your gimp shouldnt be the way it is now which is badly ported to android devices. Need work work work.
4 ★ OMG! I thought this is just the Android version of GIMP. But, the developers have created an entire Linux VM in order to run this application. Awesome work. But not 100% perfect. I am uninstalling now as it throws a permission error when I try to open an .AI file from the internal storage. Hope the devs will fix it sooner.
5 ★ This is a very technically impressive program, to make it work as well as it does given the limitations set by Android there should be nothing but praise for this developer. That being said it should have been obvious from the get go that gimp was never made for mobile and so naturally while it can work this is going to be clunky. It works very well on the Galaxy Note 5, even runs surprisingly smoothly however naturally no matter what I set the resolution to things will either be too big or too small. I am also very impressed that it supports pressure sensitivity from the pen. I hope to see other great applications made by this developer.
2 ★ Holy moly... I love gimp and all but this app is a nightmare. This app installs an entire unix terminal. You have to drag a mouse icon to navigate to everything. Much harder than just using this on the computer. Make it mobile friendly please.
1 ★ This app is garbage compared to the desktop version. Guys, the people using this are trying to use very minimal features from the program. There is no need to over saturate it with EVERY single option available! The app and program then become too large to manage or control.
2 ★ Figured out the keyboard issue but there's a major fundamental flaw with the app - when using the GIMP program and editing text, the GIMP program completely shuts down when I put the cursor in the font size box (where or says '18' by default), making creating new text objects impossible! It's also about time it supported more than one keyboard, especially since at least one other keyboard now surpasses it (Programmers Keyboard). (Unresolved issue) It reloads if you need to switch to another app for a few minutes, so if you forget to save your work beforehand, you'll lose everything!!
