Description
The turn-based game is developed from the idea of transforming the traditional crossword solution - old school Scandinavian style - into a game where you compete against each other in the same crossword puzzle.
You receive five letters each turn, then strive to place the letters in the crossword within a minute. There are several ways of out-scoring your opponent, including significant bonuses for completing words, for getting key letters right or for using all your five letters within a round.
Then again: it might just pay off to keep one of the crucial letters for later use – when the stakes are higher.
Kryss has the element of randomly awarded letters in common with other classic word games.
But Kryss is faster, and it offers a logic and gaming experience which makes it feel like no other pastime you ever engaged in. It is pure yoga for the brain, meditation for the mind, and vocabulary training in a game, all the while being so easily accessible that it is loads of fun for both young and old.
And with the chat function you can keep in touch with your favorite aunt at the same time as teasing your best friend for being the slowest player in the known Universe.
By sending challenges to your friends via social media, email or text messages you will get both more people to compete with and in-game bonuses that lets you enjoy Kryss even more!

1 ★ Love the game. Hate the app. So many glitches that never get fixed as if the developers have never actually opened the app. The game board changed in the middle of a game. Couldn't finish the game because it kept making my opponent and I play rounds with no letters. Also...stop using notifications to advertise the game. I would like to turn notifications back on to be notified when it's my turn but the developers abuse this feature by spamming users with notifications.
2 ★ Sept 2023 update: every once in a while I open this game to see if it's improved. Not as slow, but I lowered review from 3 to 2 stars bc the ads are worse than ever. This game could be so good!! It's so fun to play but the ads ruin it. There is a banner ad right across the top of the screen, so I can't see my score or the timer. Well done. Also, I'm not paying a monthly subscription to get rid of ads.
3 ★ So it's a great concept. With that said the tutorial cannot be completed the computer will never take it's turn and it always opens when you start the app. Also your just stuck with letters you don't know how to use. Single player is a bit too easy. So its ok but I wish it was better. Will uninstall now and try it again later.
3 ★ The concept of the game is very good and unique. The function sometimes has hiccups. The notifications when it is your turn, do not always work. Sometimes you have the last turn and the letters you have are not letters you can play on the board. There are glitches that are fixable but have not been fixed yet. These glitches have been confirmed by multiple people I played head to head, they had the same glitches. But I love the game and the concept, I keep waiting for the small issues to be fixed
2 ★ It's a fun game, but definitely requires ad-engagement to play. I'm also super frustrated that the challenges (which are how you earn points for boosts) don't always register completion of the assigned tasks (playing a certain number of letters or a specific type of game). No luck getting support for these issues. Edit: 8/29/23: I'm still having issues and still not getting any actual help. If you want a better review, please improve your support.
3 ★ I love this game, however there's been a bug in its performance over the last month. Old games that I have played are popping up for me to review the ending results. When I connec to quick games the app appears to be searching for an opponent but in actuality a new game has started and I end up losing the game because I am not able to connect and join it. It's killing my rating.
5 ★ Update 8/30/2023: This is one of my favorite games for words /crossword puzzles. I was experiencing issues with games but the developers have fixed all of them. It's so much better than the typical crossword and really challenges me. Get the pro version w/o ads. Trust me! Previous review: I really like the game. The glitches are becoming too much. I purchased a game package but several of my games are lost in the cyber world. I'll send a challenge, a game will be deducted but no game appears.
2 ★ Been playing this game for several months. Good game, but awful bugs. Im constantly getting messages about games that I've already finished from days sometimes weeks ago. It's very annoying because when I load the app it takes a while to see when I have games with my turn, because all the old games keep popping up and taking up my screen space. Gameplay itself is fine, but it's really annoying to constantly have to look at the replay of old games over and over
3 ★ Pretty good, could be better BLUF, it's a great turn base crossword game to challenge your skills against AI or a real world player. However, some in game glitching holds it back as well as the letter cycling is rather hit or miss. In all good time killer from time to time but not too bingeworthy.
2 ★ I love the twist on crosswords. You start off with a number of boards, and once they're gone, they're gone, UNLESS you purchase more OR WATCH ADS! No where during gameplay do you have the option to generate more boards in 5 mins or 1 hour; you're just out. Oh, you can use coins earned during game play, but one biard is 100 coins!!! So then what? Well, you can't play unless you pay!! TOTALLY SUCKS!!! I found another game quite similar, but better. Uninstalling Kryss and will dl the new app!
2 ★ I've been playing this game for years and love the style of crossword, but it's super buggy now. Stats don't load, no notifications even when turned on, games disappear. Sometimes I wait forever for quick game to end when the other player stops playing. Would love it if the developers fixed the issues since I can't find a similar game.
2 ★ I'm getting charged for games I shouldn't. It waits until the last possible minute when it says that the opponent has 72 hours to play, then charges you for the game and makes you lose, when I'm playing the practice games with Prof Kriss. It constantly freezes up and reverses the plays. They need to fix these issues. I used to love this game and now it's just irritating.
3 ★ I used to love this game. My daughter and I challenge each other and it was great. Lately it has been freezing up or just completely shutting down on me. I've unistalled, reinstalled to no avail. I emailed support and they said I just need the latest update which I already have and its just getting worse. Please fix these issues that it seems alot of people are having!
1 ★ 1 star because the in-game advertisements cover the top portion of the game screen. I tried to contact support with screenshots and you cannot actually contact support-- the ability to type anything or attach images was not available, so I can't even get my game fixed. This used to be a great game a long time ago, but now it's just bugged and unplayable. Disappointing
2 ★ Every 24 hours you are able to watch 3 ads to gain 3 gameboards. The game boards are necessary in order to start a game with someone. There are times where I watch the ad, the video gets marked as watched, but I don't get the gameboard. So I watch 3 ads, but only get 1 or 2 game boards. There are also times when I start a match, and it times out, so I don't start a match with someone, but it still takes away a gameboard. Fix this issue and I'll gladly change my review.
