5 ★ So far it has helped me in understanding the language I have had not a single advert and the afterward "extra step option" really helps in learning the culture and they use both Chinese and english speakers to help further explanation and understanding, if you are a beginner I would 10000% reccomend

5 ★ This is for the paid version. The lessons are logical and introduce language components and vocabulary in order of common use and complexity. The flash card option desparatly needs the option to set the number of cards tested at each sitting. I have 500 cards to do, no way on this planet am i going to do that in one go, if you quit you loose all your work!!!!!!?
5 ★ No app is perfect, but I think this one does the best job for Chinese. Free with NO ads. Listening practice with native speakers. Hello Chinese lets you draw characters on your screen, helping reinforce learning. You can toggle hints on or off. Plan to repeat each lesson a few times, or you're unlikely to retain what you learn to build on as lessons progress quickly. Augment this app with workbook practice - download printable worksheets. What I don't like? Paywall for all extra features.
5 ★ HelloChinese is a great app for learning the Chinese language. This app teaches you speech, pinyin, and characters simultaneously. It also has literal translations of the words and sentences (unlike the "Duo" app) this is very helpful for understanding exactly what you are saying when speaking the language. This app also teaches formal and informal ways to speak Chinese. It is very detailed and the pace of teaching is very smooth and easy. I have zero complaints so far. Awesome app!

5 ★ I am very happy with this app. Perfect for beginners. I've started with free version and it is great. I am thinking about to buy a full version to practise my pronunciation. I have only one suggestion. The right answers are a bit predictible. For example: Let's go to the park to play basketball or Let's go to the park to sleep. It is easy to choose right one if the second one is nonsense. So you practice grammar but less vocabulary. More variability will be awesome. Thanks for you great work!
5 ★ Way better than duolingo!! So pleased with this app. You have the option to learn Chinese characters or only pinyin. I'm not a purist, and I just need spoken language, so it is a much better option!! And you never lose "progress" on levels you have passed. You just have to review a ton of you stop practicing for a few weeks. There is also a flash card section so you can quiz yourself on whatever sections you need - family members, places, days of the week. The teacher talk section is great!!!
5 ★ One of the best apps and ways of learning Chinese I've found. I learnt it in school growing up but was always terrible at it and gave it up too early. Now as an adult I'm coming back to it, and it's nice that they describe the pictoral aspects of Chinese like - that the word for people (ren) looks like a person walking. Only thing is that I wish they'd say the name of the 提手旁s too in addition to describing them in English. Still, it's amazing that teach writing properly and explain it!! Love it
5 ★ This app is great. I havent seen any annoying adds yet, seems like there are none! It's more in depth than duolingo. It makes chinese seem easier than I thought it could be. I've already learned so much in one day! It teaches you how to draw symbols too, with helpful tricks to remember them. It's pretty cool.
5 ★ just started with the free version and it has more features than other language apps i have used. For instance you can practice pronunciation as well as learn how to draw the characters. Update: Still going strong with this app. Really fun way to learn, much better than that duo one! My Mandarin has improved even though I only do a couple minutes a day. Love it!
1 ★ Great app, but what a *horrible* UX pattern to let the user invest months of their time before you surprise them with a: "Sorry, you can only proceed with the second half of the course if you pay us money" I have never seen something as devious as this in a software, and I would instantly delete it, if it wasn't such a good app otherwise. Thankfully the old course is still offered in the app, which seems to be free (unless there's another "surprise" coming at me)
5 ★ I have tried many apps teaching Mandarin, and this app is the best of them all. It teaches you how, stage by stage, to read, speak and even write Mandarin correctly. I believe that, with its guidance, after finishing its whole course, I can confidently say I will not have any problems at all communicating in Mandarin with the people in China.
