The narrator of the Darkest Dungeon is SICK!
Darkest Dungeon has the player deal with a list of legends to investigate prisons beneath a gothic chateau the player has acquired. Played out in a blend of ongoing development and turn-based battle, a center element of Darkest Dungeon is the anxiety level of every saint that increments with further investigation and battle; a character managing a high anxiety level may pick up burdens that will hamper, or potentially improve, their execution as a voyager.
