GBH News 3.1.1 APK requires following permissions:
Allows an app to access approximate location.
Allows applications to open network sockets.
Allows applications to access information about networks.
Allows read only access to phone state, including the phone number of the device, current cellular network information, the status of any ongoing calls, and a list of any PhoneAccounts registered on the device.
Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.
Allows applications to connect to paired bluetooth devices.
Allows an application to record audio.
Allows an application to read from external storage.
Allows an application to receive the ACTION_BOOT_COMPLETED that is broadcast after the system finishes booting.
Allows applications to access information about Wi-Fi networks.

2 ★ Playing an ad on launch is a bad user experience. I don't have that problem when I turn on the radio in my car. This happens incessantly if you're at the edge of WiFi range as the phone switches between 5g and WiFi. There's no scrubbing or rewind. It's a shame this app has been left to languish. The WBUR app is marginally better so I usually use that, but it has its own problems. A few common sense improvements to this GBH app would make it my preferred choice.
1 ★ Broken app. Plays for a bit, then stops. Simply not usable.
3 ★ App cuts out every few minutes, very frustrating. Tap stop, then play, it starts up with a pitch for the station, sometimes also with an ad. Almost like the app is stopped so they can pitch an ad when it starts up again.
4 ★ The app works well, when it does not frequently crash at times as highlighted by my Android!
1 ★ It stops every few minutes on all our devices, no matter what I do. We have no problems with other radio/podcast/music aps. Very annoying.
