Description
In three simple steps, FoodSwitch can help you towards better health by reducing the salt, fat and sugar in your diet:
1. Scan barcodes of packaged foods with your camera;
2. See simple nutrition information on the food you’ve scanned;
3. See similar foods that are healthier based on established nutrition criteria.
FoodSwitch comes with handy filters to suit different health needs:
- FoodSwitch Classic is for anyone looking to make generally healthier food choices.
- SaltSwitch has been designed to help people lower their salt intake and is great for people with, or being treated for, high blood pressure.
- GlutenSwitch is great for people with coeliac disease or a gluten intolerance who are looking for gluten-free products.
Features:
- You can view the nutrition information in two modes:
1. Health Star Ratings – shows the overall healthiness of a product from 0.5 to 5 stars; the higher the star rating, the healthier the food.
2. Traffic Light Labels – if a product is low (green), medium (amber) or high (red) for salt, sugar, fat and saturated fat;
- Save your healthy favorites on personalized lists.
- Help us track the food supply by sending us pictures of new foods.

FoodSwitch New Zealand 2.3 APK requires following permissions:
Required to be able to access the camera device.
Allows an application to read the low-level system log files.
Allows access to the vibrator.
Allows applications to open network sockets.
Allows an application to write to external storage.
Allows an application to read from external storage.
Allows applications to access information about networks.
Allows an application to initiate a phone call without going through the Dialer user interface for the user to confirm the call.
Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.

5 ★ Great app, would be awesome if it had country of origin too!
1 ★ This app was great. Tells me I have update available. This update doesn't download . Data getting worse. Bad reduction in better options. Whatever you paid the developer it was far too much. Very annoyed deleted and reinstalled program. NO CHANGE. Asked to photo a jar of vegemite for goodness sakes. Now asks for 3 photos of a 750g pack of Weet-Biz. How anyone gives better than 1 star beggars belief.
1 ★ Nothing has changed. Still wants me to update which doesn't download. Still needs 3 photos of 380g jar of vegemite still offers no options to marmite. Get your act together.
4 ★ Very simple use and look forward to updates to make it more versatile to use, like adding alternatives to a specific list made and also a compare option
1 ★ App claims an update needs downloading (a 14Mb update) that will happen while App is in use. Only nothing downloads. Message to App Developer: run updates via the App store, not via the App accessing a 3rd party server

4 ★ Never lets me do an update. Always says there is one but never downloads

4 ★ Love that it doesn't just tell you something is bad but gives you better options. Would be great if it had allergy info. Eg you could choose what you want to avoid and the app would tell you if the food contains it. I'm allergic to honey which isn't as easy as nuts or gluten to identify in product ingredients
1 ★ Why is it that after updates to improve apps they are often worse. Now each time I start it it hangs and then says an update will download in the background but never does. - App is Broken
1 ★ The updates are rubbish I contacted the developers was told to uninstall and reinstall. Updates ruin apps . I have a Samsung s5.
2 ★ Use to work great. Now doesn't show healthier options
3 ★ Loved this App but after upgrade all my lists have disappeared have to start all over again taking photos etc now unhappy
5 ★ Hopefully this app can continue into the future with updates.
