4 ★ I use this app to keep myself up-to-date with Dutch news, while living overseas. It's easy to navigate, shows which news items I have read, I can select many categories of interest, and news gets updated often. News items can be shared and saved. I miss the daily photo items with a brief explanation, though. With the latest update, the focus is on videos, which can be slow to upload. But still, why ditch the arty photos?

2 ★ Who is responsible for this update? To see a specific sport you have to scroll down 3-4 screens in the NOS Sport section and look for, what feels like, a hidden menu? (Ugly looking rectangle buttons) Even if you filter in 'latest', which cost alot of clicks to get where you want to go, you can't see the agenda/statistics/etc of the specific sport..

1 ★ I used to love this app, but I'm less than impressed about the NOS' implementation of video news items (once they're out of the most recent news feed they show up under a general 'video' header without any reference to the original article or, occasionally, without any context at all) and more recently and more regrettably, the addition of advertising. Update: just tried to play a video, got 3 (!!!) different ads lasting about 2 minutes, and then the actual video would not play. Terrible!

5 ★ Great, easy to use news app. Unlike the awful BBC News app, videos play full screen simply by putting your phone in landscape mode. The read position is remembered too when switching between landscape and portrait, unlike the BBC app where you can start from the top if your phone accidentally switches to landscape because you held your phone at _just_ the wrong angle while putting it down. Well done, NOS. Maybe you could develop the BBC News app too?

1 ★ This app used to be great, but a recent update removed the option to browse news by category. The bottom navigation bar now only offers the frontpage, latest news, sports, video, and"Personal". It's probably an attempt to increase user retention, but now I can't easily find all articles of a given category like you can on the website. It's time to uninstall the app and install the mobile website as a progressive web app, as it does expose the categories. Truly questionable UX design.

4 ★ Okay app, Okay news quality and depth. The NOS articles are often simple (albeit sloppy) bits of information. It pushes somewhat poor writing to ride hype trains. Quality seems less important than speed here, because the articles then get hidden updates during the day. Nieuwsuur bits which are mixed in have better content. There is no way to filter out uninteresting topics (e.g. sports). However, the app is clean and doesn't come with a loud and chaotic visual design or any ads.

3 ★ I won't talk about the news itself in this review, just the actual app. The app works smoothly and is fast. The design is good and you have a nice overview of the news. Videos in the app often warrant 2 or 3 ads of 30 seconds total. This is fine, if it is covering hosting costs. However it is not fine if the video itself is only a minute long. The app does not work well with VPNs which is a huge flaw if you ask me, it refuses to load when I'm connected to a Dutch VPN server with NordVPN.

3 ★ It's a good app, which displays the news in a modern way. You can turn on notifications for important news, which is also why I like the app. Only point is I feel like some of the news article titels are quite misleading. They're making me confused as to what the article is about.

4 ★ it's free so that's a good bonus. apart from that it only displays the absolute minimum amount of news

5 ★ My app for Dutch news. Good, timely and factual reporting. The app also works very well and very fast. The only thing that should be improved is the search function as doesn't work very well unless you remember the exact title of an article. Definitely recommend the app and the content it delivers.

1 ★ Updates over the past years have made the app worse each time. Cannot hide sports news button, can't pick filtered news without including sports. Weather info harder to find (especially since last update...). That was the last straw. Uninstalled. I'll get my news elsewhere.

1 ★ This app is horrible, connection gets often interrupted (my wifi is stable) and the interface is not intuitive. At any given opportunity, you are getting slapped with ads. I find this very rude, given the fact that this organization is being (partially) paid with tax money. I'd rather see my tax money, being used for something more useful. Its either fully free or not!

1 ★ Doesn't stay in full screen. You're forced to watch about 30 seconds of ads, and that's fine. But afterwards, when you press the full screen button, it doesn't stay in full screen. Just stay full screen, instead of trying to 'adapt'. I don't care if I throw my phone out of the window, just stay in full screen.

1 ★ UX has taken a hit with the latest update. The main menu can no longer be customized. Stuff I want to see is harder to navigate to. Edit: link to weather page no longer works, throws you back to the 'personalized' page. Excellent update guys.

4 ★ I use this app to improve my Dutch. It is very helpful to get exposed to new words. However, android version doesn't allow selecting the text in the news. IOS version has this feature and I use it extensively. Please change the news text as selective so that we can copy and paste words.
