Description
Download Chargeway®, the first electric car charging app that is personalized to your driving needs. Car & Driver Magazine proclaims, “Chargeway is absolutely game changing as it cuts through the clutter.”
Chargeway® makes driving an electric car and using “electric fuel” easy for everyone. Simply choose your vehicle and Chargeway® will answer the questions that all drivers want to know when they need to re-fuel:
- Where do I fill up?
- How long does it take?
- Where can I travel to?
Chargeway® guides drivers to charging stations throughout the United States from networks including Greenlots, EVgo, SemaConnect, EVConnect, Chargepoint, Flo, Blink, OpConnect, Electrify America, AeroVironment, Volta, GE Wattstation and Tesla. Designed with the individual driver in mind, Chargeway® simplifies the electric car charging experience ensuring that you see only the stations that work for your car. Features include:
Station Locator:
- Plug specific color-coding so you know which stations match your car (Green, Blue or Red)
- Power levels 1 through 7 show your vehicle and stations max charging speed
- Automatic station location map filtering for the vehicles you choose
- Easy to adjust filters for station power levels and networks you want to use
- Add reviews and photos to stations that you visit
- See shops and restaurants near a station that you can enjoy while you charge
- One-click directions to help you get to any station location
Timer:
- Charging time estimator to help you learn how charging time can vary
- Simply select the power level and your remaining range to estimate how much time your charge will take
- If you have more than one electric car, simply swipe left or right change vehicles
Trip Planner:
- Chargeway® detects the fastest route and charging station locations for your trip
- Set the outside temperature and your desired speed for more accurate planning
- Add in multiple stops between your starting point and destination for custom routes
- Charging times for every stop are estimated to help you plan your time better
- Select "All Stations" on planned trips to view every charging option along your route
- If a certain route doesn’t have enough stations Chargeway® will let you know so you can choose another route
Vehicle Info:
- Click the vehicle image or name on the Stations screen to see more info
- Adjust your vehicles total range to more accurately plan trips and estimate charging times
- Technical specifications for each car listed under "More Info"
- Add more vehicles to your account by swiping all the way to the left

2 ★ Seems like a good start but still have a ways to go. App says poor internet connection. I'm 5 feet from the router, full wifi signal and surfing the web fine otherwise. I promise it's not me, it's you. Nothing else seems to load or work on the app but you can see a shell of what they're looking to accomplish. Fix that up and you'll have a decent app.
5 ★ This is the EV app I've been waiting for. It was super easy to setup my account and our two cars. Being able to easily see what each station offers for power levels right on the map is a great feature and the trip planning tool takes out a lot of guess work. Suggestion: please add station reviews in a future update. Thanks!
1 ★ Cumbersome to use. Have to create an account and log in to see even basic information (even when similar programs let you see the same information without registration). Felt they had to reinvent the wheel by coming up with their own color and number coded system for chargers even though a standard already exists. Just all around a confusing waste of phone storage space.
5 ★ I've just installed it after watching the State of Charge interview and it seems very user friendly. I like the simple interface and the estimated charge time based on station and car capability combined with current charge level. Also the fact that clicking on a station provides pricing information. Next step would be estimating my charge level by the time I get to that station and then calculating what the charging session will cost me. 🤞
5 ★ V2 update: Absolutely LOVE the redesign here. So much more user friendly and easy to navigate. There is now live station status, DARK MODE, and a better charge timer estimation based on current battery level. So much cool stuff I'm excited to use!
4 ★ Great app, love the refresh too. I only wish they had the option to save planned trips like Plugshare. Pretty much a 5-star, but hoping if they read this they'll consider adding the feature.
3 ★ After the latest update it crashes on route planning. Update. I got a quick response from them asking for details of the problem.
1 ★ Can't sign up, just keeps saying something went wrong. Can't add my car, cant sign up, Can't log in. Works if I click skip, but otherwise...
2 ★ Crashing after confirming route from MA to FL. Sent bug video via app contact, after un/e-installed.
1 ★ After the update on 30AUG23 app no longer loads stations. App spins for 15 mins and never provides an error log or a failure notification. Uninstalling until fixed. This was a great app previously. One of our favorites.
2 ★ The interface is easy to use. Lacks some stations and option for all different connectors. Trips feature didn't work for me. I'll try it again in a year or so if it gets significant updates.

1 ★ Positive reviews are from employees not the public. App is confusing, inaccurate and requires registration to use even though you're not using their stations. App idea great but its duplicating PlugShare which is owned by a charging provider and is free to use & share info on. Chargeway wants to be a platform but their self imposed barrier to entry requiring a phone number & access to contacts to even use the app is short sighted. Its time to remove the EV ownership barriers not create new ones
1 ★ A confusing app to say at least. After seeing it recommended over and over again on a group I'm in, I downloaded this to try. The app attempts to make finding charging locations easier, however it's already pretty simple and intuitive in the plugshare app and you can find more in the plugshare app.
4 ★ By far one of the best EV charger & route planning apps available currently. Nice interface too. Just wish they'd offer the ability to add stations and report edits directly within the app. Having Android Auto integration would take this over the top.
