5 ★ I have a lot of desktop and mobile apps and this one is pretty underrated. Doesn't overwhelm you with a lot of unnecessary information, especially because on your phone you probably have limited real estate. I've had good luck connecting class compliant devices and using them as both I/O and MIDI. Is able to see Bluetooth MIDI from my Jupiter-XM even though the Android operating system itself cannot. I can import patches from my Jupiter XM and the internal synth (ZC1) plays them back. Not bad.
5 ★ This is absolutely my favorite app for music creation. There's so much in the free version, the unlock is inexpensive, and there's a ton of additional content to purchase if you want to dig into classic Roland synths. The interface can be a little tight on a smaller screen but they've done a great job balancing control with accessibility. The desktop version is one of the most affordable DAWs and really easy to use. I don't think Zenbeats gets the attention it deserves.
5 ★ Love the sounds available on this app, very affordable pricing on sample packs! Athough it takes some time exploring the sounds you use most/what to keep, it's worth the time spent. It is not hard to find sample sounds you will love to keep, since they are ALL created professionally, modernized, clean lines on it's sound levels, easy to edit full sounds & plenty of output/input options for creating a unique soundboard that is actually your own, & not controlled by the ideas of "Brand".
4 ★ Previously a 1 star review because I got off to very rough start but Roland's responded within minutes and helped me a ton! Basically this app is very promising. It's an excellent way to get some drums and chords down quickly and then finish up the idea in another app. The drum machine has a ton of character and is probably the best mobile option out there. The 30% swing is fantastic. Unfortunately The stock instruments are bland with bad presets. Make a groove. Export and finish elsewhere.
3 ★ This app has music that gives you the Classic feel of Roland Instruments from the 80's to modern times. Consists of 808's, 909's, 707's and more. The downside to it is that right now that I'm actually having issues with my Song Transfer when it comes to certain projects and that my computer software didn't upgrade to 2.0 like I needed it to. Thankfully, I already went to Roland Support for this issue. Can't wait for the upgrade!
2 ★ The app is ok. My problem that has lead to giving up on the app is the static. After adding 3 or 4 tracks the static and some delay happens. It makes it unusable. I had to let go of the app. Not worth the storage space on my phone. I use Walkband. It's not a perfect app but it doesn't have static and records smoothly. Also, how do you even make chords in this? The keyboard is super small on my 5.4 inch phone. I'm sure it is better on a tablet. Just fix the static and it would be more usable.
5 ★ Finding your saved songs outside of the app is a pain if not impossible. Using any vst is so processor heavy that is not even worth attempting. There's not a plug n play option for midi controllers. High storage capacity required. Difficult at best to move from one creation method to the other. Tons of sounds and patterns to choose from with a sub. It's very fun to use once you get everything familiarized. Player apps can't read files. Updated rating 10|27|22
4 ★ As a free app, this is acceptable. But as a paid app, this is by far the most subpar production app I've experienced. The scrub line only functions as a means of timekeeping, when I'd expect it to guide where you'd paste your clip. Instead, it pastes the clip wherever your finger touches, which is the least bit helpful if you're used to DAWs on PC. An extra star for giving pro for free due to covid-19 and for a quick response to my review correcting one of my complaints.
1 ★ The app shows a lot of promise in the powerhouse production department, but falls flat in terms of intuitive UX/UI design. Double tapping causes notes in the piano bar editor to delete, and navigating the apps features feels like there should be a print manual included. Overall, I think with time and further development, this app could wipe the floor with Image Line's FL Studio Mobile 3, but not without a serious overhaul of UX/UI, which is where the less powerful FLSM3 reigns supreme.
5 ★ Not perfect YET, but gets better all the time. This is the product of Roland buying Stagelight DAW from Open Labs. So far, it is Stagelight with minor improvements: separate Vst windows, many more loops and samples from Roland machines, and slight gui change. Also seems to be optimized better. I recommend using this only on devices with at least 2gb ram, at least quad core processor. To get the full experience you need the desktop version. Transfer songs between android and windows seamlessly.
5 ★ Update: fixed my one star review because they fixed the cloud subscription issue I was having. Also, zenbeats 3 is a total beast! However I am getting alot of crackles and glitches in my audio from any source and don't even have that much running. I've tried the audio buffer to the extreme. As well as disabling the UI animations... But also. I have been using wireless Bluetooth earbuds, I know it causes a delay, I'm fine with that... Could the Bluetooth buds be causing the crackles?
3 ★ This would be one of my favorite mobile DAWs, except for some pretty bad latency on Chromebook. It basically has most of what I like about Cubasis and FL Studio Mobile, and I would use this as my main DAW if it weren't for the latency. Of course, it is possible that the specs of the Chromebook that I'm using aren't all that powerful, so your mileage may vary.
5 ★ A nice mobile sketchpad on the cheap! Not many music apps give this breadth of functionality for free. You get 20-ish drum kits, audio loops, & a few dozen instrument presets (synths, bass, piano, guitar)... that you can edit with loop, timeline, step sequencer, & piano roll editors... across unlimited tracks... applying effects to any track... saving your work for later... exporting it to an audio file. Can also use samples saved on your device! IAPs unlock synth and effect editing.
1 ★ Download doesn't resume. This is crucially important on spotty WiFi and during the holidays where a WiFi drop means restarting from zero. It's only 284 megs and yet i can't get it. Mobile data is somehow super slow, and WiFi blazes to 100ish megs and fails. Seriously? It isn't a huge issue, normally. But right now the house is packed with extra bandwidth hogs and 2 new consoles on the WAP. If i could just get a few dozen megs at a time and resume...
1 ★ Big "no". Within 2 mins of opening the app, it completely locked my phone. Couldn't do anything. Tried restarting phone, but app locked me from doing that, as well! Finally after a couple minutes, I was able to restart my phone. But the mic from the app remained "on", even while I restarted my phone. I cleared all data, uninstalled it, and won't trust this company again. Big yikes. Android latest software version, S22 Ultra.
