The municipal district of La Luisiana is located in the eastern part of the province of Seville and is part of the natural region of "La Campiña Sevillana". Except for a small part that borders to the north with the municipality of Cañada Rosal and to the west with Fuentes de Andalucía, the municipality of La Luisiana borders with the municipality of Écija on all its cardinal points, which denotes its artificial configuration that dates back to the time. modern. It is inserted in what is currently called "Campiña de Écija".
Its total area is 42 square kilometers and its location is between longitude 37º 38'40''- 37º 31'15'' and latitude 5º 17'8''- 5º 10'10''. The maximum altitude is 178 meters and the minimum is 135 meters, the center of La Luisiana is 168 meters and that of El Campillo is 173 meters. The center of La Luisiana is located at a distance of 69 kilometers from the capital of the province (Seville) and 15 kilometers from the main city of the region (Écija), both of which can be reached via the Andalusian highway.

Special emphasis must be placed on its Foundation. Since on July 5, the New Towns of Sierra Morena and Andalusia celebrated the 250th anniversary of the promulgation of the Population Charter by which they were founded. And that is why the 16 municipalities that share such a unique founding origin are preparing to celebrate its anniversary.
Said like this, a priori it seems to be simply a significant and simultaneous birthday, however, the intention, objectives and purposes with which these towns were created by the Enlightened Government of King Carlos III, as well as the vicissitudes so peculiar and unique ones with which they were born, deserve to transcend what would be a birthday party to be a commemoration that brings together and honors the entire true dimension of that Great Project for the economic and social reform of Spain.

At the end of the 18th century, King Carlos III, helped by his ministers, ordered, following the enlightened currents that dominate Europe, the founding of New Towns in the most depopulated areas of Sierra Morena and Andalusia. Thus, he commissioned a German adventurer, Juan Gaspar de Thurriegel, to recruit Central European settlers to populate these areas, which are, namely, the New Towns of La Carolina, La Carlota and La Luisiana, and appointed a General Mayor of them. enlightened politician and intellectual, the Peruvian Don Pablo de Olavide y Jáuregui.

The first settlers, who began to arrive at the end of 1768 and beginning of 1769, came mainly from Northeastern France and Southwest Germany, and to a lesser extent from Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Austria and Italy.

The New Town of La Luisiana was founded as such in 1769 on the royal road of Andalusia, in a place known as "Venta Quemada", which was located in the so-called "Monclova desert". The colony was made up of La Luisiana, as the head of the colony, and the villages of El Campillo, Los Motillos, currently missing, and Cañada Rosal.
