Night Owl X 2.2.12.3 APK requires following permissions:

Allows applications to open network sockets.

Allows applications to change network connectivity state.

Allows applications to change Wi-Fi connectivity state.

Allows applications to access information about networks.

Allows applications to access information about Wi-Fi networks.

Allows an application to write to external storage.

Allows access to the vibrator.

Allows an application to record audio.

Allows mounting and unmounting file systems for removable storage.

Allows read only access to phone state, including the phone number of the device, current cellular network information, the status of any ongoing calls, and a list of any PhoneAccounts registered on the device.

Allows an application to modify the current configuration, such as locale.

Allows an application to receive the ACTION_BOOT_COMPLETED that is broadcast after the system finishes booting.

Allows an application to read or write the system settings.

Allows applications to disable the keyguard if it is not secure.

Required to be able to access the camera device.

Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.

Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.

This constant was deprecated in API level 21. No longer enforced.

Allows an application to call killBackgroundProcesses(String].

This constant was deprecated in API level 8. The restartPackage(String] API is no longer supported.

2 ★ Same as everyone else. Have used this app for a year or so and suddenly in the past couple weeks it is not working. Called customer service. App worked for a couple hours now nothing. Connect option in device is grayed out and I cannot click it. Disappointed in the app. Hopefully they will read these reviews and do something about it. Update 9/21/20: Night Owl has never done an update on their app that I can tell. Still sucks. Rarely works. Regret getting these cameras.

1 ★ The app is great when it actually works. For the first 3 weeks it worked just fine, but now I cannot remotely view my cameras or use the playback feature unless I am connected to the same wifi server as my cameras which really defeats the purpose of even having this app installed. I am now considering getting a new system and scrapping this one.

2 ★ Absolutely loved this app and camera system till just recently...... it only shows our cameras live picture when connected to the same network as the system! Use to work no matter what network I was on... whether it was a wifi or mobile network. Now just always says offline, unless I connect to the same network, at home. No reason to have it if I can't check my cameras when away from home! Needs to be fixed asap.

1 ★ Update 9/5/20,update report failure, followed recommend instructions, still negative results.(I have had the product for a few years. It has always been a fustrating experience. First the app only works when you never need it. Trust me, every time I need it the camera never loads on the app. It works sometimes and most times it doesn't. I'm frustrated, I neglected putting a review for years even though I always felt this way. I don't like leaving negative reviews but this is nauseating. )

1 ★ Very disappointed with this app. Purchased security system end of June 2020. Got it installed and setup with the app, worked great for 1 month (August 2020). Since then everytime you open the app it just closes & restarts abruptly or it will let you start viewing clips and then abruptly restart or app closes. I have logged in/out, uninstalled/reinstalled, and even did factory reset on my phone. I have hit the option to provide details and send report, but still ongoing issues. Waste of money!

1 ★ Works okay for a stand - alone DVR and might occasionally connect to the internet but more often than not all you will see is "offline". Klunky, poorly written software, horrible interface. Looking back and searching video is time consuming and frustrating. Save yourself time and aggravation by buying a real DVR that works, this isn't it.

2 ★ Same as everyone else. Always offline or connected but no camera visuals. Uninstalled app 3x...Same problem. On my tv, it's ok...except 2 cameras not working, checked the voltage from the power chord, no reading. Wireless is working though. Using another power chord for 1 camera. Still can't see it on my phone. Too many problems, had it now almost 2 years.

1 ★ App is constantly offline. I can never view thru my phone. What's the use of security cameras?? The cameras apparently work according to the person that did the install. The app is what we are having problems with. I wish i could afford to have this mess removed from my property & but be equipment that i can monitor when I'm away. Complete WASTE OF MONEY!!

1 ★ UPDATE: Still inadequate system. Horrible app and/or camera system. About once a week i can't see the cameras for an entire day. Also, the system itself has huge 10 hour gaps when trying to see earlier in the day. There are 3 dogs in the house moving, and traffic outside, it's not like nothing is going on, but the system won't save anything. We've reset it, we've unplugged it, we've deleted and re downloaded the app, every elementary step that has been suggested. Just overall very unsatisfied.

2 ★ "Unable to log in check your network connections" The developers answer is to log out, clear cache restart app and it should work... That doesn't work! Update, I found a fix, I downgraded the app to a previous version from 2017, it added my device with no problem and hasn't gone offline hmmmm, This app seriously needs some work and an update for 2020.. the cameras are good why don't you want your app to be updated?? Thank you to the developers for recognizing there is a problem!!

1 ★ Update 20 months. Nope..Still having issues with the app. When used on wifi while I'm at home it works, but as soon as we step outside of our home wifi we get black screens 60% of the time. We've deleted, erased the info, reinstalled and the issue continues. Know of other people who own and use the app. They have the same issues. It sucks when you have movement alerts and can't see anything. We had to purchase a ring to see the front door.

1 ★ It worked for a while... but now It only shows black screens on the phone. Tested on 3 devices. Update 9/7/2020: cleared device data and cache, when attempting to login and connect to device the error " Unable to connect to device, please check network system and connections" despite the DVR being connected via ethernet displaying a "healthy connection" on your diagnostic tool and my smartphone being connected to the same wifi, how could this be a network related issue and not just another bug?

2 ★ App won't load cameras unless my phone is connected to WiFi. I will get notifications saying there is motion detected but I am not able to see the camera unless I'm on Wi-Fi. Phone data works, internet works, only the app doesn't. When I get home and connect to wifi I can load them on the app just fine. Kind of makes it pointless when I have to be home to look at the cameras that are on my home.

1 ★ App rarely works. Was only working when at home and now is continually saying it's offline even though the system itself is working fine. Tried un-installing and re-installing and still the same thing. All we get are black screens. Have been waiting an hour on the phone for support and about 20 minutes on the website chat.

1 ★ Half the time it can't play back the recorder data during the same day. Haven't tried previous days. It'd be nice to check the motion recorded while im at work. 7/1 all cameras are plugged in but the app shows all black screens. Why does it disconnect on my phone when I lose my wifi connection when leave my house? Wifi it's still on at my house.
