Description
BlueDOT utilizes your smart devices' Bluetooth to receive information with a communication range up to 95-feet line-of-sight. You can connect up to 6 BlueDOT devices to ThermoWorks BBQ app to set alarms, track min/max, and collect graph data.
Smoke Gateway connects to the internet via Wi-Fi to transmit and store information in the cloud. This allows ThermoWorks BBQ app to review your temperatures, receive alerts, and view graph data from anywhere.
Signals uses both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which allows for easy setup and different modes of connecting to Signals, so you can track your cook in any situation. Bluetooth allows you to connect directly to your phone or tablet, up to 95-feet line-of-sight, so you can use Signals if there is no internet connection. Wi-Fi allows you to track your cook through the internet and cloud from anywhere. Signals will switch automatically between the two to give you the best experience.
You can connect multiple Signals, Smoke Gateway, and BlueDOT devices to ThermoWorks BBQ app simultaneously, giving you an overall dashboard of your temperatures.

2 ★ UPDATE 7.14.20: I've tried the new app(s). They are awesome. The separate app to update my Signals and the new app for Mgmt both work excellent. Very happy with the new app! Look for the yellow icon! ORIGINAL: Works sometimes. Not very good. I use it because I have to.
1 ★ This is the old app (it's actually perfectly OK, I'd give it 4 stars for minor reliability issues). The new one, "thermoworks", is much better and you should go and download it. Same publisher!
2 ★ App is very basic for a $200+ product. Simple things like average temperature during a cook are inexplicably abset, and you have to go several layers deep in the menu to check the battery level (which never seems in sync with what is displayed on the unit). Have had the signals for over a year and keep hoping for an update to the app that brings it up to par.
1 ★ Awful application. Numerous issues - Bluetooth disconnected hours into a smoke, and won't reconnect. Changing channel name only lasts until the next refresh, then changes to the default again. Data fields on graphs don't show. Graph lines are light colored and miniscule, so can't see them. Fonts too big to fit into the on-screen app, so they spil out of the fields This app is useless with Signals - I have to keep checking it manually in person.
1 ★ I'm pretty disappointed with the app. Not the devices. What is most frustrating is the app will work for 10 minutes and log my ambient and meat temp and then the app loses connection. I've tried several attempt to fix it but it won't reconnect. I find it odd for an app like this to be this bad for how expensive the products are.
2 ★ When it works, it's awesome. Takes forever to connect, sometimes never connects. Have reinstalled software, re-paired, still having issues. Too bad. Good Hardware, BS software.
1 ★ Incredibly frustrating app to use. The UI is OK but the app fails to setup WiFi regardless of steps taken to troubleshoot. Temperature graph will randomly set the start time to the day/time the device was setup thereby invalidating the data without manual processing. App data for the battery seems inverted from battery life on the device. You cannot manipulate the graphs in any way to try to see data more clearly. I hope the development team is working on an upgrade because this is unacceptable
3 ★ Basic app that lacks features. App does basic graphing but lacks the ability to see the time on the graph. On a long cook you can see the temp spikes or dips, but you can't tell how long ago they happened. App needs the ability to stop recording and store data automatically when a probe is removed from the unit or when Signals is shut down.
2 ★ Disappointing for ThermoWorks. For a company that prides itself on professional quality of their products, this software is a complete failure. I have utilized the App for both my Smoke and my Signals. Equally frustrating ... Name changes to the channels don't flow from the app to the device. Alarms have some odd sequence of dual acceptance, needing to acknowledge and then checking OK. Differences in naming convention between app and device. What a mess .....
2 ★ Massive room for improvement. Directions included with Gateway to sync to App are horrible & incomplete! For the App to work you have to allow Location Permission, which is a total invasion of privacy, not needed for this kind of App. Unable to zoom in on graphs & no time grid lines. Can't clear graphs without first saving them & then going to delete them. Have to enter High & Low Alarm Limits on Smoke, then turn around & enter the same limits in App instead of the two communicating together.
2 ★ Disappointing app. I converted from a Flameboss to the Thermoworks signals as my temperature control system for my grill. The signals works great, the billows doesn't have variable speed like the flamboss did and doesn't seem to have any kind of open lid detection so it does some weird stuff, but it still works well for long cooks. The app however is pretty bad, it shows it's connected but shows temperatures from a previous cook, the graph is useless, please check out what Flameboss is doing.
1 ★ Almost useless after latest update. Only used a few times before and worked flawlessly. After latest firmware will not connect to wifi at all and keeps saying need new firmware. When going to change the network setting I get a spinning wheel of death when connecting to verify credentials. After a few tries I gave up came to comments section here and nothing but issuesThat when one of the reviews that I read said ther was an early access secondary app to this that hasworked and in beta
1 ★ Hard to set up and connect and now that im connected it wants me to do a firmware update but everytime i click the link on the app it redirects me to a blank playstore page and says it cant be found. Beyond a joke for what you pay!
1 ★ Pretty garbage app to be honest, which was particularly disappointing as I was so excited to get it working. Cant stat connected, cant discover devices, cant sync, really didn't work at all. Extremely frustrating.
1 ★ Firmware is buggy - required tech support to setup for first use, settings keep reverting and dont allow for new times/Temps etc. They say they know about the firmware issues, its been since May - should be resolved by now
