Hiring artists – performers, dancers, musicians – is still a very traditional & offline experience. To be honest - majority of people reading this wouldn’t even have thought about it or the possibility of hiring artists seamlessly. While there are various platforms to experience music or art namely YouTube, Spotify, etc., none of them addresses the question “How/whether can I hire this great artist for my anniversary or surprise to my wife or for my business event?” The privilege of having a dedicated commercial management (booking management, etc.) is restricted to a very few artists while the vast majority remains undiscovered. ‘Surprise-me’ is born to address this issue. We believe in the democratization of art – ‘every artist - regardless of their stature, budget, connections - should be able to reach to every consumer across the globe.’
Surprise-me is a mobile platform to connect freelance artists with potential customers across the globe. Imagine it as an Uber application but for hiring artists instead of a cab. The platform aims to cater two customer types – Individuals & Businesses. Individuals can use the app to hire artists (For example – ‘a romantic song for your anniversary’, ‘a band for your graduation party’ etc.) for important life events & make the events more personal & memorable. Businesses can use the app to hire artists (For example – a young rock band, etc.) to help their business (For example – guest entertainment in a restaurant, office party, etc.)

‘How it works?’: customers can download the app from apple or android play store. After signing up, they can view a list of artists active from their location. They can search for a particular performer using the search functionality or filter them using ‘available dates’, ‘price per hour’, ‘artist type’, etc. Customers can visit the profiles of artists they find interesting, read about their offerings, visit their social profiles to check some sample performances. While on it, customers can decide if they would like an in-person performance or virtual performance from the artist. If they are keen, they can send a message to the artists or book directly by proceeding to the check out.
Artists can download the app from apple or android play store. After signing up, they can create their profile & personalize it by adding pictures, videos, Instagram & YouTube links. They can set their own hourly rates for in-person & virtual performance options. Once the profile is created, artists are live & ready to ‘entertain’ customers.
‘Benefits’: customers benefit by having an option to hire talented artists for their individual/business events; something unimaginable or extremely cumbersome until now. There is high transparency on the artists can offer including the price. User experience is very contemporary & smooth, as it mobile-friendly, real-time & without any middle-men. By having an option for a virtual performance, customers can access & experience talent without any geographic boundaries.
