3 ★ I like my 7g as a standalone device, but paired with the app it's frustrating. Always tells me I'm not brushing my upper right molars enough, never gives higher than 85% if I brush for 2 min, and if I go for 3-4 min I can get +90% but it gets pissy at me for going over 2.5min. Also, when not paired with the app, brush notifies me at 30sec intervals. When paired with the app, it expects me to watch a screen to track to time. The brush is so much more user friendly without the app.
1 ★ Simply, it does not work. Not even close. After about 5, 6, 10 attempts the app finally connects to the brush. But then, when you try to brush your teeth same problem. It takes about 20, 30 minutes to connect. Sometimes you have to 'add a new brush' again - all this to brush your teeth for 2 minutes... you see the problem. This is a good idea but you have very far to go still.
3 ★ 3 stars for now. Not sure if it's the app or brush but no matter what I do it never wants to read my bottom right side when brushing. It's been 4 months now and the same thing. I brush bottom left, top left, middle up and down, works just fine. Every single time I go bottom right it thinks it's the top right. No matter how I position the brush it thinks it's too right and sometimes thinks it's bottom left. Very frustrating.
4 ★ Overall I do like it a lot! The biggest negative I guess is that the brush tracking is pretty poor; I often find myself brushing the same spot waaaay to much just because I want a good score. It feels like it's solely based on camera tracking, but I think it could be much more accurate if the brush had a built in gyroscope. That way you could even figure out whether you're brushing the inside or outside of your teeth!
2 ★ Don't buy the toothbrush JUST to use this app (though the other features can be useful). Pros - the over pressure indicator - keeps track of the life of your brush head Cons - often inaccurate on where you are brushing - no way to go back and change answers to session prompts after the session ends, so not great for tracking your dental hygiene when you sometimes hit the wrong button by mistake - no instructions for how to use it in either the app or the toothbrush manual
4 ★ Pretty cool app that's easy to use, looks great and is really helping to make me teeth look better. However, the tracking does need to be improved, as I can find myself overbrushing in areas where its still saying I havent brushed enough, this causes my gums to start hurting and even bleeding. So, obviously for the time being I'm going to avoid pushing for the 100% each time because the app itself even prompts me that I'm sometimes brushing for too long.
2 ★ App is great, when it works. No matter how hard I try, the brush will not connect to the app. I updated my Android and app versions, turned bluetooth off and on, checked location permissions, even reset my phone. There should not be sooo much effort for connecting... Later edit after reply from oralb team: thank you for the contact number, but I will most likely not reach out. I can live without the app option, and I don't see the benefit of spending more time on customer support.
1 ★ 6 months in & this app has worked for only about 8 weeks, suddenly the tracking part stopped working, diverted to a clock which doesn't work & for the last 6 weeks can't even trace the brush exists via bluetooth, a very expensive gimmick. Shame, when it did work, occasionally, it intorduced a good brushing discipline
1 ★ The app stopped working. Even after performing all the trouble shooting steps. I stopped using app this is disappointing as much as the toothbrush cost customers should have a working app. That's one of the major reasons I bought the toothbrush. Maybe a cheaper and a timer is a better investment. The app is great when it works performance isn't consistent it needs major work
1 ★ Number of issues: timer seems to stutter and freeze regularly; registration of mouth area being brushed isn't very accurate; previous sessions aren't cleared so I open the app up to find questions for a previous session that I've already answered being asked again. Ultimately, I just don't get the app. What's its purpose exactly? I can use a timer already, and the brush glows red if I brush too hard. Genuinely struggling to see the point in it? The medals are pointless too 🤷♂️
2 ★ App is great, when it works... The first few brushing sessions worked great with the app showing me the areas I had covered and what was left to cover. Quite impressive to be honest. Then it just stopped connecting to my brush, after I had only used it 4 or 5 times. So now I can't use the app at all. I always ensure that both Bluetooth and GPS are on, but to no avail. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app but this was for nothing.
1 ★ Just a glorified timer! I was expecting it to review your teeth brushing and show neglected areas on a diagram , but all it does is count you down and tell you when you're brushing too hard. Pointless. The brush has these two features built in anyway. Deleted.
3 ★ App is great but not intuitive. The mouth tracking isn't 100% accurate. For the asking price of $800 Australian dollars, it's pretty disappointing. But I want to invest in my health so I guess I'll stick with it, and there are many pros than cons. But I think I might return this for a cheaper version or when this is on sale, so at least the 180 days money back satisfaction guarantee is also useful. Will have to see. I'll give it a couple more days, because first impressions are... average.
1 ★ Just purchased a Smart 4 4500 black edition toothbrush. Very disappointed in that no matter what I try, the app will not automatically recognise the toothbrush. My phone can see the tooth brush in the bluetooth list of devices but it will not pair. Tried looking on the internet for any tips or advice and found nothing to resolve the issue.
4 ★ Recently started using this app, and it's pretty decent. However, it has several issues: 1- Sometimes guided sessions end too early. Let us continue instead of giving a low score and making us brush again for a 100. 2- Let us delete sessions of our choice. I don't need to track when I clean my toothbrush or brush my tongue. Edit: After more use, I must admit tracking is more consistent than I first observed. My other complaints however remain.
