Abbas Mahmoud Al-Akkad: Senior writer, poet, philosopher, politician, historian, journalist and monk of the literary niche. He became famous and filled the world with his literature, and he represented a unique case in modern Arabic literature, and he reached it in a unique position.

“Abbas Mahmoud Al-Akkad” was born in Aswan Governorate in 1889 AD, and his father was a simple employee in managing the records. Al-Akkad contented himself with obtaining primary testimony, but he worked on reading and educated himself; his library contained more than thirty thousand books. Akkad worked with many government jobs, but he hated government work and saw him as a prison for his literature, so he did not continue long in any job he was entitled to. He turned to the journalistic work; he worked in the newspaper “The Constitution”, as he published the newspaper “Al-Dhiaa”, and wrote in the most famous newspapers and magazines at the time. Al-Akkad gave his life to literature; he did not marry, but he lived the stories of love that immortalized two of her in his novel, Sarah.

Karam often Akkad; received the membership of the «Arabic Language Academy» in Cairo, and was a member of a correspondent for «Arabic Language Academy» Damascus than that of Baghdad, and the granting of «State Award discretion in Arts», but he refused received, as «refused an honorary doctorate» from Cairo University.

The Akkad was a commanding officer who fought many battles; in literature he clashed with the great poets and writers, and the battle of the Hamitic protectorate between him and the prince of Shu’’a took place. He also established the “Diwan School” with “Abdul Qadir Al Mazni” and “Abdul Rahman Shukri”, where he called for the renewal of imagination, poetic image, and the commitment of the organic unity in the building of the Shi'a. It also attacked many writers and poets, such as «Mustafa Sadiq Al-Rafei». He also had intellectual fights with "Taha Hussein", "Zaki Mubarak", "Mustafa Jawad" and "Bint Al-Shati".

Al-Akkad participated strongly in the battle of political life. He joined the Al-Wafd Party, and defended valiantly on “Saad Zaghloul,” but he resigned from the party in 1933 with the disagreement of Mustafa al-Naf. The king attacked during the preparation of the constitution; he was imprisoned for nine months, as he objected to the 1936 treaty. He also fought tyranny, absolute rule, fascism and Nazism.

His books have exceeded a hundred, and the most famous of them are geniuses, in addition to many articles that are difficult to compute, and he has a lonely story.

He passed away in 1964, leaving a huge legacy, and a vacant platform for his successor.
