4 ★ I finally found a media scanning app that is fast, properly logs what it is doing, and actually works on the latest Android version. Downside: Does not remove stale entries from the media store, at least when the folder has been deleted. Works fine for adding new files.
1 ★ Not compatible with devices with SD Cards. Only works with internal storage.
5 ★ I found some instructions on the web on how to refresh the media store, but they to no longer work on newer Android versions (I'm on 13). So I tried this app and it worked.
3 ★ It adds new files to mediastore but doesn't remove the deleted files from it, so my gallery, media player, etc. still detects the deleted files
1 ★ Doesn't work, no idea what it does, but doesn't update the media data Base
