Description

USB Media Explorer (UME), formerly known as Nexus Media Importer, allows you view photos (Jpeg and Raw), stream videos1, listen to music, and view documents from USB storage devices and cameras. Specialized screens for photos, videos, music, documents and file management. Copy files to and from the USB device. View full size photos and videos without importing!

Supported Devices:
- Flash/Pen Drives
- Card Readers
- Hard Drives2
- Cameras3
- Other Android devices4
- MTP/UMS audio players5
- Some DVD drives6

Additional Hardware Requirements:
- Connecting most devices will require a microUSB OTG cable or USB C to USB adapter. These are available from most major retail websites.

Notes:
1. Video and audio formats not natively supported by Android (AVI, Dolby, DTS, WMV) may require a third party player like VLC.
2. Hard drives require considerable power and may require an external power source, like a powered USB hub.
3. Only cameras with storage are supported. Live image devices like endoscopes and webcams are not supported.
4. To access another Android device, put the target device in MTP/File Transfer Mode.
5. Most “i” devices use a proprietary protocol. These are NOT supported.
6. Only DVD drives that support AV Connect mode or similar are supported. See your DVD drive manual. Commercial DVDs are not supported.

Support:
- If you have an issue, you can tap "Homesoft" from the About screen for email support. I read and reply to reviews, but due to their one way nature, it’s difficult to resolve issues. If you have a support request, please include the Android device you are using, the USB device you are trying to use and a description of the problem.

3 ★ Used to work fine. However now all I get is an error messages that is unhelpful: b.c.w.h.b: Bad Command Signature 2-12. I have tried multiple micro SD cards, multiple card readers and reinstalled the app. I even tried on another phone. Google search can't find the error message. It must be me I guess but I'm stumped. An old ES Pro app, which vanished from Play, can still read the external USBs.

3 ★ Does not play both stills and videos in a directory, like a true gallery explorer should. Plays only one type at a time. Very frustrating. Otherewise I would have ranked it 5 stars. 9/25/20 I have found an app - File Manager+ - which does everything one would need. Consequently I uninstalled USB Media Explorer. Please try harder next time.

5 ★ Updating a previous 3 star review. I've figured out a solution to the problem I had which caused me to give the three star review. The app developer was very responsive too.

5 ★ This works perfectly for transferring data from a SD card plugged into an adapter plugged into an OTG cable.

5 ★ After trying a variety of OTG USB file managers, this is the best. It took some relearning with the new appearance, but still works fine. Operates seamlessly, quick and easy when reading and writing to NTFS formatted flash drives..

1 ★ Was once a 5 star app I've used for years that was brilliant. For me it doesn't deserve one star now. I couldn't really use it. UPDATE. Dustin tried to fix the problems but only succeeded fixing one (the search button) must say Dustin is trying to fix the problems. Tracks missing from albums, some with only one or 2 tracks or none at all. Open the folders and it mixes them up!?

5 ★ Ignore the people who cannot fathom how to work this app. If you have half a brain you can use it. I've used this on multiple phones and tablets over the years and it was and remains to be the VERY BEST USB OTG file manager there is. Power flash memory, external hard drives, no other app works as well as this one for USB OTG. Try the FREE USB photo viewer first. If that works on your phone, this will too.

3 ★ Recent update allows split screen of internal and external storage.. Still not a fan of the new UI style, and I hope some features come over from the older version.

5 ★ Okay I have a couple trail cameras and this is the best app for reading my memory cards. I am able to set it up to view all pictures or videos. (Just a remember you have too have your trail camera set for videos.) You can also select your pictures by swiping picture too picture. Or let it play picture to picture for you, have to select it in the settings. Can't hurt to try this app.

5 ★ Was satisfied with the free version, but then I wanted to do more, like transfer some pics over to be published. Free doesn't allow, so I put my hand in my pocket and this version is also satisfactory. Using Android tablet with a USB Type/C 32GB Jumpdrive. Thanks again for a nice product.

3 ★ The New Interface ruined what once was the best app in the genre. After years of using its pirated version, out of sheer thankfulness i purchased the app. It seemed money spent well, which is hardly the case online these days. What greeted me was the worst interface ever. The highly convenient Spilt Screen was gone, replaced by a very unaesthetic, distracting interface. Anyways, the app works perfectly. But on design front, the devs can do much better. Functionally, Best in the game.

1 ★ Purchased this app and was very pleased with its performance for years. Recently I attached my device to my tablet and was greeted with a terrible interface. My stored videos on my storage device do not play immediately like before. Now, the app is downloading my already downloaded videos! What the hell?! I am terribly disgusted.

1 ★ Note8 I paid. Freezes up after viewing two photos. Buttons lock up and I've got to close everything. Won't let me watch videos from usb sd card, says something about not having some sort of "codex" for videos. (Edit) I'll try your suggestion and update review. Its awesome you responded, ty.

4 ★ Bought this to try and watch videos off my external Hard Drive on my Samsung Galaxy S9. Only app that seems to detect the hard drive and view its contents which is good, but unfortunately none of the actual videos are showing up. Am I doing something wrong or missing something? The video formats vary from Mp4, mkv, and avi, yet none appear.

5 ★ As a long-term user of this APP and in the past weeks after a major Update I then gave it poor feedback due to its many issues with bugs etc, but since then there's been updates which I have to admit has improved greatly the overall running and interface of this App once again. I'm now again using it on a regular basis as it fits my needs much better than other similar App's. I also give great compliments to the Developer who gave me so much help and time throughout the upgrade period.
