Description
Developed by the 3M™ Littmann® Stethoscope business in collaboration with the 3M™ Health Care Academy, this holistic comprehensive training programme contains real auscultation sounds and, patient histories, based on real patient assessments. Track your progress as you learn and test yourself against best practice using a range of heart and lung sounds. Then apply your knowledge to a variety of real patient simulations.
The 3M™ Littmann® Learning Institute app is useful whether you’re at the start of your career or nearing the top of your profession and wanting to refresh your knowledge. It can be used by both Littmann stethoscope owners and those who use a different brand of stethoscope.

Introduction to auscultation best practice education
One normal heart sound
One sample test module
One patient assessment module
Premium content
Premium content can be accessed by entering a special promotional voucher code provided with your recent purchase of a Littmann stethoscope (applies to purchases on or after 01 July 2015). Voucher codes are only supplied with Littmann® stethoscope products purchased through an Authorised 3M™ Littmann® Stethoscope Distributors during special promotional periods.
Building and assessing background knowledge
Background education: Normal and abnormal cardiac and respiratory medicine auscultatory sounds with animations and imagery.
Knowledge check: 25 multiple choice questions regarding on auscultation technique and sound formation.
Cardiology training and testing
Listen: 10 cardiac auscultations with associated heart sounds. These include multiple-choice tests with scoring and feedback.
Test: 13 cardiology assessments in a practical examination style. These include real patient histories and sounds. Test yourself against multiple-choice questions with feedback.
Learn: 10 cardiology assessments in a guided assessment style (at bedside/in clinic). These include real genuine patient histories, real auscultation sounds and ECG’s.
Respiratory training and testing
Listen: 10 pulmonary auscultations with associated lung sounds. These include real patient histories and sounds. Test yourself against multiple-choice questions with feedback
Test: 10 respiratory medicine patient assessments in a practical examination style. These include real genuine patient histories and sounds. Test yourself against multiple-choice questions with feedback.
Learn: 10 respiratory medicine assessments in a guided assessment style (at bedside/in clinic). These include associated patient histories, auscultation sounds and chest x-rays.
Important information: The audio quality of the sounds played through a computer, tablet or smartphone device may not be a faithful representation of the actual sounds heard on auscultation. This is due to the acoustical performance of sound cards, their associated drivers, or the frequency response of the headphones or speakers used. Therefore there is a possibility that the user may not be able to fully hear all clinically relevant sounds. We recommend the use of a high quality pair of headphones.

1 ★ This app doesn't open even after repeated reinstalling. Gone totally useless. Developers please check it immediately. Not recommended.
1 ★ App does not let you progress to next pt OR it keeps repeating same pt test (just one lung pt?!) OR if you get the wrong answer it doesn't let you retry on the same pt.
5 ★ It worked fine until this morning. It keeps crashing so I reinstalled it. I forgot my password so I reset it and everything works fine again.
1 ★ After so many complaints I thought the crashing issue would have been solved by now. But no! It's not the case, the app crashes in a way that will not allow you to do absolutely anything neither explore the app, update or complete account holder profile. To those who had an issue registering their products you must add a 00 before your serial number.
4 ★ Edit/Update: I'm pleased to say that after a couple months I reinstalled this app and tried it again with success. Whatever problem 3M was having earlier seems to have been resolved. I change from 1 star to 4 stars, and will consider a 5th later. Come on 3M - I used this app before and I loved it. I upgraded my phone and now it does not work. I try to sign in my account, but the app immediately returns the message, "Login error. An unknown error occurred." Please keep up with the OS updates!
1 ★ Used to work perfectly and now crashes all the time cannot event sent an app report 😔
1 ★ The app doesn't work. I own a littmann stethoscope but I cannot access the premium content. I used to have no problem accessing it on my previous device, but I forgot the password to my account and I can't reset it cause the email to reset it is never sent to me! I've tried using the serial number again, but a message saying the number is not recognized always pops up. In a nutshell, this app is rubbish.
1 ★ Continually closes upon initial install. The company really does not seem very receptive to fixing the problem either. I've tried numerous times to submit feedback however I've gotten no response nor has there been an update available for installation. Don't waste your time and money spending more for a stethoscope with this app included it isn't worth it.
3 ★ For all of you having problems with logging in or serial number, first I downloaded the app from playstore, registered with my serial number, worked kinda fine for a while then started crashing, so unistalled the app and redownlaoded it from playstore, and it couldn't recognize my serial number!!! nor could I log in(keeps saying an error ocurred). So I unistalled it again. and tried the Apk_pure version, and it's been working perfectly since then. Give it a shot it may solve your problem too.
1 ★ It doesn't work at all!!! I have a Littmann classic III and used its serial number during the registration. Now the app won't even stay open for more than 3 seconds. It keeps saying that I need to update my profile, and then crashes.
1 ★ Crashes on both Android & Apple; won't register serial# on either. Most expensive stethoscopes in the world, crappiest app I've ever attempted to use. Won't take serial#, so functions are limited; app crashes more often than it runs. Maybe it's time to look at other brands...3M is resting on their laurels.
1 ★ Initially this was a very useful app, it allowed you to hear what to expect when auscultating certain sounds. For the past several months the app crashed before it fully loads and won't even allow you to open it. Very disappointed with the app.
1 ★ It was a good app like a year ago. Now I can't open it because it crashes right away. I never have the chance to send feedback through the app because it crashes so quickly. I used to recommend this app to my students. Now it's just a waste of space on my phone.
1 ★ Great but there are rooms for improvement All of a sudden this app crashes & I can't open it therefore I reduced the rating stars from 5 to 1
2 ★ App consistently crashes as does the dialogue box asking me whether I'd like to report the issue. Great when it works. Unfortunately, the app is more frequently NOT working than working.
