Description

SoundHUD is a highly customizable volume panel replacement that doesn't require root access. And maybe best of all: It comes with a true silent mode for Lollipop users!

What's in the box:
• Multiple styles - choose between an expandable volume panel, a statusbar volume panel, or just a thin line that stays out of your way
• Lollipop silent mode - tired of the lack of a true silent mode for Lollipop? Yeah, so are we!
• Long press actions - launch any app simply by long-pressing one of the volume buttons
• No root required - leave the drill at home: no root, no Xposed - keep that sweet, sweet warranty!
• Volume stream lock - got a media tablet? Turn on volume stream lock to always adjust the music volume instead of having to deal with a useless ringer volume
• ...and much more!

Like Lollipop's design and simplicity? It sure is swell, but it seems the stock volume panel didn't get the memo - if you've tried getting Lollipop to shush while still getting woken up in the morning, I'm pretty sure you were on the verge of feeding your phone to Rusty (pro-tip: plastic doesn't make a very good dog treat!). Enter SoundHUD, which comes with a true silent mode for Lollipop, an expandable volume panel with separate, draggable volume sliders for every volume stream (ringer, music, notifications, alarms, in-call volume), and much more!

Silent mode HOW-TO
1. Go to System settings -> Sound & notification -> Interruptions
2. Turn OFF all priority interruption switches
3. Get up, do a little dance, and enjoy the silence! No more calls, notifications, reminders - just alarms!

What's this funny "Accessibility"-business?!
To recognize when you press the volume keys and to auto-hide the default system volume panel, the app needs access to the "Accessibility" service. While we agree that the built-in warning sounds mighty scary - fret not: The app doesn't have Internet access and therefore can't phone home! Hello? Hello? Anyone? No? Oh well...

5 ★ Since the update, when I take a screenshot the volume goes down to vibrate and then it gets stuck so my phone sits there vibrating on and off until I've taken the screenshot and can turn the volume back up. EDIT: Thank you very much for the reply and now the issue is fixed! Changed my rating to 5 stars :D

3 ★ Update: This app was definitely a 5 star for me until it started crashing every time I open google play music. Other complaints about this have date back to January 2016 and the problem seems to remain unaddressed as of July 2016. Original review: This is exactly what I was looking for. I never change my ringer volume and only want the volume keys to adjust media volume. This is the only app I could find that does exactly that.

5 ★ I must have tried 30 and this is the ONLY one that works with the volume buttons. All the others you have to open the app or use the notification tray. Also the only app that truly separates notification and ringer volumes. I don't want this because my buttons are broken, I want it because stupid Android 4.0 keeps the notification and ringer volumes interlocked!

4 ★ Having the expandable volume panel is super convenient! One design nitpick: the dot on the volume slider is not vertically centered. Also, when you start turning up the volume there is a 1px gap between the dot and the thicker part of the slider. Can you fix that? Other than that it functions perfectly!

5 ★ This app works great on lollipop and gets rid of the God awful new volume setting options. I was expecting to install an xposed app but to change the full thing without root is impressive. This app does its job perfectly highly recommended for anyone on lollipop for sheer ease of use.

4 ★ For those worried about permissions, without internet permission everything is safe since nothing collected in accessibility mode leaves the device. The app doesn't even show up in AFwall+.

3 ★ I really like the app and always keep it enabled, however there seems to be some bug with Google play music. Whenever I open music soundHUD crashes and no buttons on my phone work until I reboot my system. Unfortunately this happens way too often, so please fix it!

3 ★ This app saves my life whenever I want to change volume, HOWEVER, sometimes randomly it causes the touch buttons to the left and right of my home button,(the back button and menu button) to STOP working. I have a oneplus two so the finger print scanner still works but NOTHING works on my phone besides the touch screen and power button. This problem continues to occur until I reboot my phone. Fix this issue and I will rate 5 stars

4 ★ Love this new app! It fixes the volume slider to be able to change media, and that is the perfect fix to my issue. One problem, however, is that the app does not work after a restart unless I disable it in the Accessibility settings and reenable it.

3 ★ A little buggy, icons are confusing and prevents screenshots. This is a great tool to make the volume button in Lollipop function better (like it did in KitKat, thanks, Android!). However, the icons for ringer volume and alert volume in the expanded menu are the same, plus they change position based on current context. That is confusing. Also, the menu sometimes just goes nuts and turns the volume all the way up or down. Lastly, you have to turn it off to take a screenshot. Could use some work.

2 ★ This apps interface hasn't changed in a long time. I used it like a year ago. It has two sound icons that look the same, can't tell what they are. The drop down for sound doesn't always expand all 4 volumes, wish it did. The trial expires and I would have bought if it seemed like the dev would fix the app. But the app hasn't changed. This would have been a perfect replacement for the horrible new sound interface that came with 5.1 android (note 3)

2 ★ Reliability is spotty. For example, when turning the volume down to silent and vibrate, the icon will still show the volume is on no matter how many times I press volume down, until I turn the volume up then move it back down. Also the timeout does not work. If it's set to 10 seconds, it will still disappear immediately. Seems to happen mostly on the lockscreen.

4 ★ It's great when it works. It crashes every time I open or close google music. When it crashes, it won't come back up and my volume keys just stop working. I had to uninstall it (instead of re-booting) to get volume control back. I hope this is fixed soon. All I really want is for my volume panel to be expanded by default.

1 ★ I find that it works the day that I install it but then it goes back to the normal volume control. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice and it keeps doing it. I will be looking for a different soon. LG V10

3 ★ I can't use this app because it conflicts with the app "All in one Gestures", which I use to change the functionality of my home/back/recentapps buttons. SoundHUD reverts the buttons' functionalities to their defaults (probably because it lets you change what longpressing the volume does). Aside from that and some other miscellaneous little bugs, this app's alright.
