Description
NOVID goes beyond contact tracing. It is the first and only application that warns you about cases of COVID-19 in your personal network before you you're exposed, while keeping you anonymous. It gives you personalized COVID Radar about disease spread. It also gives you exposure alerts if you have spent a long time near people who later self-report positive tests. It's your radar and shield in this difficult time.
Under the hood, NOVID automatically generates a random anonymous identifier, which has no relationship to your personal information. You don't need to provide an email address, phone number, username, or password. NOVID periodically scans the nearby area using a combination of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and ultrasound, detecting and sending only anonymous identifiers.

5 ★ Edit: If like me, you refuse to have persistent notifications in your Android bar, the developer has provided a workaround in the reply to this review, and indicated that doing so does not effect efficacy of the application. Rating updated. Original: Pros: The app itself is great, and a very useful tool in a pandemic. Cons: The user interface creates a persistent, unremovable notification which clutters the notification bar. As a notification zero user, this is absolutely unacceptable. I'll reinstall when the "running in the background" notification can be hidden.
5 ★ Easy to use and understand. App runs smoothly. Great idea to help with the pandemic by making contact tracing easier & more accessible. The fact that the app keeps EVERYONE ANONYMOUS makes the probability of people truthfully admitting that they have tested positive for covid19 a lot more likely i.e more info for contact tracing! Genius! Just need more people to download the app for it to reach it's full potential.

3 ★ Would be great if everyone used it. Had it running for months & had NO interactions logged until my husband installed the app. Then it was constantly notifying both of us of "prolonged interactions." Annoying.
2 ★ PITA to disable when home. Seems to drain battery faster.
5 ★ So far, so good, but haven't detected anyone using the app at all in any of my travels the past 6-12 months, except for 1 other friend. So NOVID has only detected his "interaction" with me, even though he has been just as diligent as I have been to maintain good hygiene and keeping safe bubble space between others.
4 ★ Overall, this app was pretty great at doing what it is designed to do. Unfortunately the use of ultrasonic audio was not appreciated by one of our dogs. After 2 nights of wondering why she got so anxious very suddenly, I finally connected the dots, my wife and I immediately uninstalled the app, and she started improving over the next 12 hours.
4 ★ I like the updated option of turning off scanning. Most days I'm alone at home, so it didn't need to be constantly scanning. I suppose there's risk users will forget to turn it back on, but I'm making it part of my leave the house routine: purse, phone, keys, mask, app.
3 ★ Love the idea, but it doesn't send me alerts whenever it needs to restart Bluetooth, so it ends up being off for who knows how long without me being aware, which defeats the whole purpose. I'm not sure why it disconnects from Bluetooth when I didn't turn it off myself.
5 ★ Definitely dig this app! The permission to ask for GPS and audio could be concerning for privacy aware users. The FAQ section of the app addresses privacy concerns very well, I highly recommend that this info is made available to users before they need to give permissions. Thank you for this wonderful app!
3 ★ The biggest problem is the app does not inform you if Bluetooth is off so you may go an entire day without even knowing the app is not working. There should be a alert immediately if the app is not working for you. A notification something or something. Other then that it's a good concept.
5 ★ Easy to use, doesn't noticeably reduce battery life One comment: it's annoying that it creates a permanent "running in the background" notification in the status bar, so I just disabled notifications for this app in Android Settings. There should be a better solution to this though.
4 ★ Great idea. Please add a feature that will automatically enable tracking when WiFi is not available. Either that or make it have a geo fence that would enable it whenever I am not at home. I suggest the WiFi feature because that doesn't require any identifying data.
5 ★ Absolutely great app, and could be seriously helpful! Encourage others to get it - this is key. Have had other registers properly. Some potential features can be added but there are no bugs I have detected after using for multiple days!
5 ★ Brilliant way to track covid. Also a good reminder when I'm too close to someone for over 15 minutes. All my friends are now using this. It is anonymous so it tracks proximity not people. Everyone should be using this
