The Civil Code (BGB) governs as a central codification of the German general private law, the most important legal relationships between individuals. It forms, with its by-laws (eg Condominium Act, Insurance Act, Civil Partnership Act, the General Equal Treatment Act) the general private law. However, it does not provide complete codification of civil law.
