Description
You can now have a virtual planetarium in your pocket! Look through the eyes of your Android device to see a virtual window into the whole visible universe.
All you have to do is point your Android deviceº at the sky and Star Chart will tell you exactly what you are looking at.
Using state of the art GPS technology, an accurate 3D universe, and all of the latest high tech functionality, Star Chart calculates – in real time - the current location of every star and planet visible from Earth and shows you precisely where they are; even in broad daylight!
Want to know what that bright star is called? Point your device at it – you might just find out it’s a planet!
Want to know what the night sky looks like to people on the other side of the earth? Well just point your device down!
Want to know where your star sign is in the sky? Star Chart will tell you all this and more.
Star Chart's features include:
- Just point and view. No need to scroll around the screen to find out what you are looking at*.
- Alternatively, look around the sky using finger gestures – perfect for armchair astronomers!
- Voice Control: Explore the solar system with commands like: "Fly me to the Moon" / "Go to Saturn" / "Tour Mars" / "Look at Andromeda" / "Where is the Cigar Galaxy?"[English only]
- Supports dynamic device orientation viewing. Allows you to view the night sky whilst holding your Android device at any angle.
- Accurately depicts all the visible stars of the northern and southern hemispheres - a total of over 120,000 stars!
- Fly to and explore all the planets of the solar system, their moons and the sun all rendered in beautiful 3D with state of the art visual effects.
- Displays all 88 constellations, with constellation imagery based on the beautiful artwork by 17th century astronomer Johannes Hevelius.

- Using the powerful Time Shift feature allows you to shift up to 10,000 years forward or backward in time.

2 ★ The display is awesome: 5 stars; the user interface is pretty amateurish: 1 star. Plus, I paid for the comet catalog, but it's not listed: 1 star. Thus, an aggregate score of 2 stars. Navigating the app is pretty twonky. In addition, I did an in-app purchase to get the comet catalog, but comets aren't listed on the Explore page. A badge on the Explore page indicates that 41 objects have been added (my missing comets?), but nothing new shows up. Also, where is C/2020 F3 in the sky view?
5 ★ This app is stunning. I feel like I can literally hold the universe in the palm of my hand when I'm in Explore mode. Really inspiring. The moments in time are a nice touch too. The only criticism I have is that it's really difficult to set your location manually. Would be nice to be able to select a city and have the latitude & longitude populate automatically.
5 ★ This app is awesome it shows the real time location of every planets and stars including sun and moon. The our AR feature is superb. There is no other match for this app.hope this app will remain free for everybody to use and to know about our star constellation. I really love this app because of its real time AR view.
1 ★ Refund story: loved the program BUT Once I upgraded nothing but problems. Bugs arise, menus lock out. Sloppy programming. Dont put a cent into this program until they fix this. Update: I think its time for my money back. Its getting worse - crashing. Refund underway. Well google got most my money back, but escapist games have the balance. Will advise if they refund.
1 ★ The newly discovered comet C/2020 F3 Neowise is all that everyone is talking about right now (July 14, 2020). Last night I paid $3.99 for an upgrade in this app to be able to search comets. It doesn't even show this comet exists! You would think an app would want to be up to date, especially if it charges money! What a rip-off! What a missed opportunity on this app's part to get new customers!
2 ★ The base free app is decent, but I bought the comets expansion expecting it to include the currently bright comet C/2020 F3 NEOWISE that's all over the news, it's not included so that was a waste of money. I suppose I can't expect them to update it with any new comets in the future either. Dissapointing.
1 ★ App won't load. Got a new phone and when I installed the app and attempted to open, it freezes on loading screen. I have purchased the add ons and really don't want to have to purchase the other star chart apps.
1 ★ Beware! Does not work on Android 10. The app hangs at the splash screen. I thought it might just be loading information in the background and left it running overnight. No, the app still shows just the splash screen or a black screen.
1 ★ Love the app, but I bought the comet upgrade and it doesn't even pull up Neowise, which is why it bought it. Best comet in 20 years and it doesn't show up? Just saw other reviewers mention the same thing which confirms that is basically a hoax upgrade. We should be getting a refund given its false advertising
1 ★ Does not work on Pixel 4 XL. Shows a loading bar that doesn't move for a minute in portrait mode then switches to a completely black screen in landscape mode. You can't do anything on either screen. Reinstalled app, no change. Shame too, it worked on my previous phone enough for me to purchase it fully.
1 ★ The only reason I paid for the comet addon was for comet neowise and it still hasn't been added to the database despite being known for months. What a joke. It hasn't been updated since 2018, I should have paid closer attention instead of wasting my money. Be warned.
4 ★ "Sky View" mode is excellent. "Explore Mode" and "Moments in Time" are distractions I don't use. It's a five-star app with a few unfinished user interface issues (2020 July 21).
3 ★ I used to have it on my old phone, the best app ever, but since I installed it on my new phone it's not working, keeps loading for a long time then a black screen
5 ★ Such good art you use to represent the constellations, good use if you're needing a map and it's with someone else you love, it can be pretty cheerful to find the constellations in the night sky after looking at the app
1 ★ Paid for the comets but did not receive them. There is no new option on the explore page and using the search yields no result. I adjusted the settings to show only comets and they appear, but not all the comets advertised. Please fix.
