IMPORTANT - Android 4.4 Users will require rooted devices for the Play store version.
Dashcam allows you to attach a USB webcam to your phone or tablet and record videos or take pictures.
Dashcam is one of the easiest ways to install a dashboard camera in your car and record videos.
The app requires that your device is USB OTG capable and has webcam support enabled.
Please check if your webcam is on the list of supported devices ( http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/ ).
Starting with Android 4.4 superuser (root) rights are required for this app to work.
Some Android 4.3 devices may already need this, too.
Several of the most common video resolutions are supported.
Videos and photos are saved on the device and can be viewed in the gallery.
If Motion Jpeg is not selected videos will be saved as mp4 files.
It is recommended to use Motion Jpeg for faster video displaying.
When Motion Jpeg is selected videos will be saved as mjpg files.
MX Video player is recommended to view them.
Troubleshooting:
We recommend to use a powered usb hub to attach the webcam.
Webcams may require a lot of current which can cause your device to reset as the Webcam is turned on.

Allows an application to write to external storage.
Allows an application to read from external storage.
Required to be able to access the camera device.
Allows applications to open network sockets.
Allows applications to access information about networks.
Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.

1 ★ That's it I'm giving up..I've tried loads of apps and none of them work. Boroscope to phone can't happen I reckon.....in fact no matter what I download from app store it doesn't work. No wonder they say 1000s of free apps. Because none of them work.. Latest Motorola E . Android kit-kat 5-0. And no apps do anything. Or if they do they are so embedded with advertising you spend more time clearing pop ups than you do using the app.. Anyone think the same or am I very unlucky. .
4 ★ However there is a problem when recording videos, when played back there are extremely fast and the length is noted as 00:00:00 when the actual length is around 10 seconds, and the framerate is recorded as over 6000fps where it should be, I guess, between 15 and 30fps?
2 ★ All the other times I get a green screen with maybe 20 out of 480 lines... Too bad because if it was more consistent, it would be perfect.
5 ★ A truly awesome app I've been waiting a loooooong time for... Because I can finally use with my USB endoscope, but only problem is it won't record videos because it only records the first frame and it won't work on my Galaxy S3 but works fine on S5.
3 ★ Droid Ultra Rooted Kit Kat 4.4 - works for a few random seconds (less than 10) then camera cuts off. Reapplying the settings will turn it back on most of the time. May be the lack of power supply, but the same camera works fine on the "USB camera trial" app, but it is also $15 for the full version.

1 ★ Using a Logitech C300 (on the list of supported devices). App just says device has no uvc driver. This is on rooted 4.4. Works fine on other apps
5 ★ After testing a bunch of other apps, this was the first to finally recognize my USB camera. The interface is clunky, but it's definitely functional.
5 ★ Sure the interface is basic, but I was able to use my USB snake cam to help see inside walls for joists. AWESOME
5 ★ This is the only app that works for an external camera. I used it on an unrooted 4.2.2 device (Xperia L) with a powered USB hub and it just worked! Love it.

2 ★ I'm trying all these apps, looking for one that works, this one does literally nothing. Can't even get into any settings or anything. Android 4.0.4 with Pilot Electronics dash cam.
1 ★ ... while ALL the others do work fine with my noname 640x480 cam. I'll stick with free usbwebcam.
