LPM The interest of UNS is a university-level student press institution which was established on December 21, 1993 at the Mesen UNS Surakarta Campus. Starting from a non-formal discussion forum for students (the majority of students from the Faculty of Medicine) who discussed campus, regional and national issues, then the idea was sparked to institutionalize the community into an official internal campus. Finally, the Student Activity Unit was formed by the Student Press Institute in the Interest of UNS.

The initial product of the press institution is the "Eleven Channel" Student Newspaper (SKM) and "Karuh" Magazine which are published every month. Both of them present national issues, campus issues, and issues that develop in the scope of Surakarta and its surroundings from the perspective of students. When the pre-reform was rolled out in 1998, the "Eleven Channel" SKM was banned by the UNS rector due to his criticism of the New Order for the implementation of the 1997 Election. Thus, the LPM of the UNS only published magazines. Furthermore, the product of LPM Kenting was added by publishing a semi-magazine bulletin called the "Civitas" Bulletin. At the age of 18 in 2011, this university-level LPM has published 17 magazines, 29 bulletins, 1 short story anthology, and dozens of news leaflets.

In the midst of stretching the development of UNS, the rapid increase in the number of students (currently UNS has more than 30,000 students) directly affects the increase in the number of students interested in LPM Kandangan. This makes the LPM Kiliki have extraordinary human resource input. Students who enter the Kenting LPM are very diverse, coming from all faculties at UNS totaling 9 Faculties, as well as coming from varied backgrounds of abilities and academic cultures. Harmonization of diversity is one of the strengths and strengths of LPM Kanggap that makes institutional dynamics very colorful.
