Description
This Garmin application lets you access*:
• Unlimited topographic maps that you can cache on your device and store for offline use, including topographic maps and quad sheets
• Aerial imagery
• Hybrid maps
• Waypoints and route navigation
• Tracking and location sharing
• High-detail GPS trip logging
• Unlimited cloud storage of routes, waypoints and tracks
• Online trip planning
• Control and access all the features of your inReach device from the app: send 2-way custom or preset text and email messages, trigger an SOS from anywhere in the world, track your location and more
By pairing your mobile device (via Bluetooth® technology) with inReach, the Earthmate app turns your mobile device into a true satellite communication, GPS navigation and safety tool. To access the 100% global Iridium® satellite network for live tracking and messaging – including SOS capabilities – from the Earthmate app, an inReach device with active satellite subscription is required.
You can plan your adventures from your account on the Garmin Explore™ website, wirelessly sync them to your smartphone or tablet, and then save all your trip data and maps with unlimited cloud storage.

2 ★ Problems syncing tracks from device. Problems logging through the app. Garmin makes everything SO complicated with so many different applications compatible with only one or two devices each. I just want to get GPX files from my inreach with this app, and I just get problems. The only good part of this app is to be able to send messages with a phone rather than with the inreach, and to be able to see location/tracking from the map.
3 ★ This app definitely needs a lot of work. As others have said, the UI is not very intuitive, and there are a number of bugs. I only use it for messaging, and that is buggy too. I normally don't bother to pair my SE to my phone, as the SE works better without this app.
1 ★ Honestly very disappointing... This app is not intuitive, full of gliches and missing several common sense features... I expected a lot more from Garmin as an industry leader in GPS tracking but this app is about as useful as the inReach would be without a battery.. I actually had to drop my original review to 1 star... The more i use this app, the more i wonder why I even bother using tracking... I hope the SOS works better... DO NOT BUY AN INREACH FOR TRACKING!!! YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!
3 ★ Fairly decent app but, like others, the complexity of the Garmin app, application, device ecosystem is confusing. I'm disappointed that Earthmate is not available for Android Auto, which I used regularly on my 9" LCD display on my Alpine Halo9 head unit in my overland vehicle. Garmin should add "Enable Earthmate on Android Auto & Apple Carplay" to the development backlog for a future release of the Earthmate app.
2 ★ Full of bugs. The big ones that urk me the most is i can't download maps. It loads about 5 mb before freezing up. And it only maintains some of my tracking history and they randomly dissappear for no apparent reason. Even though they still show up on my garmin.
2 ★ The messages does not synch correctly. Sometimes it works when I do a force stop but sometimes not. I have a Explorer+ and my brother have the same with the Mini. Really not reliable!
2 ★ crappy app. doesn't sync. at least, i can text, though slow and inconsistent, it mostly works. sometimes. come on garmin, you can do sooooo much better.
2 ★ Works but could be better. If mobile location is off when app started, it pesters you to download maps you dont want. The messages compose screen does not have text copy / paste functionality which is very basic omission. Just needs a bit of further development...
2 ★ Mapy.cz (a free app) has way more updated maps with more detail. Kind of baffling how they can do for free what Garmin can't do when I buy something and pay a subscription to use the satellite service.
1 ★ No useful hiking info like forestry maps. Difficult to see wilderness versus forest boundaries. Road maps are 5 years out of date and even show incorrect road names.
3 ★ Works fairly well for me, but my problem is Android keeps warning me that Earthmate is slowing down my wifi by repeatedly connecting.
5 ★ Works consistently for all my off the grid communications. So glad I finally ditched the Spot!
1 ★ Bluetooth connection to my phone is unstable and won't stay connected. I get text messages on inreach but not on app. Please fix for Android devices.
1 ★ They billed me $290.00 for service that did not work once and that I NEVER used, then sent it to a COLLECTION AGENCY 6 months after I stopped subscription. Screw them!!!
1 ★ Very unstable app, keeps crashing which makes it really unreliable when needed.
