Description

Csound is an open source user-programmable software sound synthesizer of great power, originally created by Barry Vercoe at MIT in 1984. Users write instrument definitions in Csound's orchestra language to render notes written in Csound's score language, played on a MIDI controller, or generated within the orchestra or by some other programming language.

Csound contains a full complement of digital oscillators, samplers, filters, envelope generators, random number generators, physical models, sound granulators, phase vocoders, and other unit generators contributed for over 30 years by a community of musicians, programmers, and researchers from around the world.

This Android version of Csound provides a user interface with predefined sliders, buttons, and trackpad for real time control of instruments, or the user can write a custom user interface in HTML and JavaScript. The app integrates with text editors so that the app itself can be used to develop Csound pieces.

Csound pieces for the app can embed LuaJIT or JavaScript code for algorithmically generating scores.

The app was originally written by Victor Lazzarini and Steven Yi, and has been extended and is currently maintained by Michael Gogins.

This release runs only on Android 5.0 or later.

4 ★ Thank you for doing this.

2 ★ Why do you need this permission vital signs? And why was the previous review deleted? I'm reporting your app for bad email link of support and for asking for a permission that makes no sense

4 ★ Finally! Sound file output now works, yay! I often use CSound to create textures which I output and use in other programs like Caustic since CSound scores can be a little cumbersome depending on your intent. Anyways, thanks for the fix, glad to see sound file output working again.

3 ★ Was much, much more useful to me back when it was functional. Seems like it also worked a lot better then too. Now it struggles to render anything in realtime unless ksmps is a multiple of sampling rate, and even then struggles with many things it breezed threw mere weeks ago, and when attempting to output a soundfile to disk it renders nothing at all. Also, it just keeps repeating Score finished in CsoundPerformKsmps with 2 if you do something foolish like try to play a Csd file in its entirety, while emitting awful squawking tones, which I'd normally enjoy, but the sounds it's squawking are all dull. Is there some way I can revert to a previous release?

3 ★ Can you make vocaloid style music? I will change my score to 5 stars if it is possible to make vocaloid music. :3

2 ★ Crashes frequently on many csd files that are supplied, including example files. Needs to be a lot more robust before it can be as useful as it's PC or Linux counterpart.

4 ★ I can see the potential of this but as a user it is too complex. 4 stars for the app 5 for the api and library!

5 ★ Work well...well done...

5 ★ Good work
