Download the latest BackCountry Navigator GPS PRO application, version 7.5.9, compatible with Windows 10/11 (using emulators such as Bluestacks), Android devices. This free Maps & Navigation app is developed by CritterMap Software LLC and is easy to download and install.

Description
Download topo maps for the US and many other countries in advance, so you won't need cell coverage for navigation. Use storage memory for maps.
New: Android Wear support to see navigation at a glance on wrist
Use GPS waypoints from GPX or KML files, or enter your own coordinates using longitude/latitude, UTM, MGRS, or grid reference. Using GOTO makes a waypoint a locus for navigation.
This uses many publicly available map sources as free downloads. Some additional content available as an in app purchase:
-Accuterra Topo Map Source for $19.99/year. This can be purchased and used with or in instead of the free sources.
-Thunderforest Map Sources - worldwide for $11.99 per year.
- Boundary maps for 12 western states from the Bureau of Land Management(BLM) Overlay for topo maps valued by hunters.
-GMU boundaries in some states
-Lake Contours in several states.
-Content from US TrailMaps including:
-ATV, Whitewater, and Equestrian Trail Maps
See the menu under More-> "Purchasing AddOns". They can be shown on top of topo maps.
You may try the DEMO version to make sure you like the maps in your country.
About topo (topographic) maps: Topo maps show terrain through color and contours, and are useful for navigation offroad. Topo maps and GPS can be used for hiking, hunting, kayaking, snowshoeing, & backpacker trails.
You can create your own maps with Mobile Atlas Creator, or specify a custom tile server. Built in sources include:

Use offline topo maps and GPS on hiking trails without cell service. The GPS in your Android phone can get its position from GPS satellites, and you don’t have to rely on your data plan to get maps. Have more fun and safe GPS navigation in the backcountry.
Use as a geocaching navigator by getting a pocket query as GPX.
Besides geocaching, use GPS for recording tracks and GPS waypoints on your trip, all the while tracking your GPS quest on topographic maps. It may replace your Garmin handheld GPS.

For a one time fee, this a great addition to the outdoor gear you bought at Cabelas, REI, or another outdoor store. Many have found the Android GPS in a phone or tablet to substitute for a Garmin GPS or Magellan GPS, such as the Garmin GPS units Montana, Etrex, or Oregon. Android can be your handheld GPS.

4 ★ This was a great app. I used the caltopo map pack, which i was subscribed to for $12 a year. However, this year, my subscription was renewed and i was charged despite the fact that they no longer provide the map pack im being charged for.
3 ★ I have greatly enjoyed using this app in British Columbia. However the licensing changes with Caltopo have removed the very critical and good mapping data that I need to operate effectively. So I've cancelled my subscription which I have had for quite a few years.
2 ★ Was great....They have recently removed the Open Cycle Map from the downloadable (even in pro which i paid for a while ago) to extra subscription. Absolute BS as Open Cycle Map is a free map service anyway online. WTH?
1 ★ No actual maps of value. EVERYTHING OFFERED, are free downloads from other sights and offer very little for the use described. DO NOT PURCHASE. Demo model is exact same and you get nothing extra. Waste of money.
4 ★ Fantastic app, but... Backing-up and restoring saved routes and data is a real pain because the default saved data location is impossible to find. It doesn't seem to exist on any phone that I've had. I've just got a new phone and have lost years' worth of routes because of this. Could the developers please add a simple button to open the saved data/routes folder directly from the backup/export options screen so that files can be easily copied, backed-up and restored manually via phone and PC?
4 ★ Have loved this app however after downloading a larger map area to a saved map with Acuterra, we lost all maps from 4 different map sources in this saved map folder and trip data base!! Not happy.
5 ★ Best app in the store and on its own a good reason for choosing Android over Apple . I probably use BCN more than all the other apps I've downloaded put together. Perfect for recording tracks or creating routes on your chosen map. Takes a bit of time to learn but if you love maps that's part of the enjoyment. Thankyou Nathan.
5 ★ I am NOT tech savvy, but was able to jump in to this app and make it do everything I needed. Transitioned from Avenza, which is less user friendly. As long as you download the map of your target area in advance, you'll have a good experience.
5 ★ good detail on maps, just wish it would up date more offten, is my go to map when i go out camping, i know i wont get lost on my way back to camp or home
2 ★ Confusing interface and instructions. Tried 3 times to read and use without success. Not for average GPS user.
4 ★ Great app overall however it has suddenly stopped updating my location. I need to disable the GPS and reactivate in order to get it to refresh. Is there a fix for this? I'm using Android.
1 ★ This app deleted hundreds of waypoints that I meticulously and laboriously entered into the database. Zero support from the vendor! I contacted the vendor and get no reply. Don't waste your money or time with this pos!

5 ★ The app has been working flawlessly for a couple of years. Now I hear caltopo is going away. I've tried all the other topo options and none compare. Not sure what I'm going to do when this happens.
