3 ★ I really do like this app but that said, needs to have the same tools on Android as Mac Version! You can not add a video link, you can do some highlighting but lacks features of Magic Markers, and to me the most important feature lacking in the Android version, is the linking the highlighter sinking in tandem with the Row Counter, which in turn brings me to neither does it have the voice commands to go to the next row or frog. No help menu. Not everyone can afford the expensive Apple Tablets.
1 ★ Updated to reply 10/13/2020 When you updated the app the old version froze. I did the update and lost all pattern mods and notes. It has done this when there was an app update before. Don't act like it did all the deleting because I had an old version when it was your update thatd deleted everything.
2 ★ I have been using this app on a galaxy s10, and it was working well up until yesterday. It has started freezing and crashing when I try to move to the next page of a project. *UPDATE* 6th October, the crashing is still and issue. I have to uninstall and reinstall every time I want to use the app. Only works about 2 times before the crashes start again.
4 ★ Excellent for any yarn work, not just knits! Unfortunately, it has started crashing. There was an update for it earlier to fix this known issue, but I don't know that mine was updated, so I am uninstalling and reinstalling. Don't have to get the yearly subscription for it, but I did because it's so worth it to me, for the extras
1 ★ Have had a paid subscription for nearly 2 years and today out of the blue the app stopped working on my tablet. Extremely frustrating so I've cancelled my subscription. UPDATE 28-SEP-20: reinstalled app on Sep. 1st and got it working again but lost all my projects, notes, progress etc. Very displeased but at least it worked. Today it stopped working AGAIN! Fed up with this app and will look elsewhere!
4 ★ I also had to Uninstall and reinstall. Before "the crash" when it kept freezing up on me, I enjoyed being able to keep my place with the highlighter and count my rows. Sometimes my finger would land in the screen and it would make a strange noise and then a red diamond with a dot inside of it would appear. It didn't move, and I cannot figure out what the purpose of it is. Other than that, it was working great. I'm about to go try again after the reinstall.
4 ★ I have used the android version of knitCompanion for a few years now and it has worked well, but there were things I wished it did (better organization of projects, missing features from Apple version, etc). The upgrade is so much better so far. It appears that the some of the functionality in the Apple version is now in the Android version. I am going to back and watch the Very Pink Knit videos to learn the new functionality. Looking forward to future upgrades.
5 ★ UPDATE: Installed update 1.2.18 and had the same issues, so decided to uninstall and reinstall. IT WORKS AGAIN!! Not terribly happy about having to set up my projects again and redo my links to Ravelry and Dropbox, but so very happy that the app is working again. I use this app all the time for both crochet and knitting projects and love being able to highlight where I am, have a row counter for each project, and not having to print out a bunch of pages. PREVIOUS: Love the app and use it ALL the time! Unfortunately, as of today, September 7, 2020. It's no longer working. It's on 1.2.15. I would normally give it 5 stars, but since it is no longer working, I have to give it 1. I will update my rating if/when this gets fixed. It says it was running maintenance last night, which I assume was an update, and it worked fine right after, but when I tried to open it today, I can scroll through my projects, but when I open one, the pages are blank and the app freezes. It then either crashes or I have to shut it down manually. I'm going to have to print out the patterns I'm currently working. I have subbed to this app and have only gotten 4 months out of it so far, so I REALLY hope this gets fixed very soon! And yes, I tried force closing the app and hard rebooting my tablet. I have not tried to reinstall it, but I shouldn't have to reinstall due to an update and have to redo all my patterns.
1 ★ Used to be a great app! Now it gets 1 star. Refuses to refresh Ravelry, and dropbox files with new additions. And Yes I am running 1.2. 12 I have uninstalled and reinstalled and now I have to read all my current projects and remember where I left off. Not impressed! I have unlinked accounts cleared cache uninstalled app restarted phone reinstalled app relinked accounts and still no new files! Waste of time and money! Back to the days of wasting paper I guess. At least my printer is reliable!
5 ★ Just got it last week. Watched video tutorials, and went from there. Love it for my knitting, crochet and cross stitch. I wish I had this a long time ago. I hope my Android version gets an upgrade to have same features as the iPad has. Those would make it so much better.
2 ★ I've used this app for a while now with no issues but since the update I have to reinstall the app at least once a week because it starts to crash. Getting pretty frustrated, if this continues to be an issue I will be cancelling my subscription.
2 ★ Update is frustrating...I was going to pick up an old very complex project which us there thankfully and its saying the knitter name has to match and won't open!!!! I mean my name hasn't changed!!!! Regardless, I tried every name variation I could think of from email handles and various usernames, nada. Please help!!!!
5 ★ Have used this application for a number of months and it worked like a dream. Recent update made this app unable to be used. When you open projects they freeze, can't navigate between pages and often the pdf pages don't load. After contacting customer support, they advised the steps to take to keep my project files and to reinstall resolving any issues I had due to updates. Support were fast to get back to me with guidance and I continue to be very pleased with this application.
2 ★ 8/20:. Update really messed this great program up! Press the wrong button & instructions get HUGE with no way to make font smaller. They also included an annoying sound if you are scrolling too fast. Way too annoying now. Will have to go back to printed copy. Too bad.. It WAS a GREAT tool.. 2019: Really like it! I use it whenever I do lace charts!
4 ★ Very useful, though it tries to make itself the default app for pdf files in android.
