Shallow charge dramatically improves the cycle life of both Li-ion battery and NiMh battery. For Li-ion battery used in most cell phones, Charge to 90% of of maximum capacity can double the life span of the battery. Most Li-ions are charged to 4.20V/cell and every reduction of 0.10V/cell is said to double cycle life.
