This app contains real sound recordings of Big Ben in it's entire grandeur. Close your eyes when it chimes and see for yourself!
This app is also a complete rewrite of an older version that did not work with Android KitKat. It works on our development phone which happens to be an Umi Zero running Android KitKat.
*** New feature:
Chimes will be silent if you are listening to audio prior to when the chimes are ready to play.
Here are some of the other features.
* App will not chime when you are on a phone call.
* Separate volume controls for the initial chimes and also for the hourly chimes.
* Listen only to the chimes you want. For example: 15 minutes and 30 minutes after the hour. Maybe you just want the hourly chimes. It's easy to set up in this flexible app.
* Very flexible silent periods when you don't want to hear any chiming. You can even exclude a particular day of the week from a particular silent period. For example you can have a silent period active while you are at work on the weekdays and have the chimes sound out on weekends.
* A widget is planned for a future update release of the app.
* A better time picker for the silent periods is also planned for a future update release of the app.

A few customers have commented that they could not load the settings so I'm including instructions on how to set the app for a particular scenario.
I removed the adverts from this app except when a user taps on a feature found on the full version of the app.
Scenario: I want to have my phone chime only during a certain time of the day and have this silent period effective only on Monday through Friday. Good for people working at an office.
From the home screen, tap Silent Periods.
From the Silent Periods, tap the light bulb on row number 1. The starting and ending periods will be enabled.
Tap the starting 00:00 on row 1 and a time picker will be displayed.
Drag the blue dot around the clock face until the time is before 08:00. A time like 07:55 would be good since the silent period will start at 08:00 because the silent periods are checked every 15 minutes.
Lift your finger off the screen then place it back on the screen for a few seconds and the time you entered will be displayed for the starting silent period time.
Do the same for the ending time 00:00 and enter select 17:05 for the silent period ending time. Chimes will resume from 5:15pm onwards.
Tap the calendar icon to display the Period Schedule screen.
Tap the light bulbs for Saturday and Sunday. This will exclude those days from the silent periods.
You can now return to your home screen and everything is set.

4 ★ Been trying this app for the past 6 weeks, and I gotta say, I LOVE it! I originally had Grandfather Clock on here, but after a while, it would start chiming at completely erratic times after running for more than an hour or two, so I finally gave up on it and uninstalled it. I then discovered this, and the difference is like night and day, as it sounds right on time more frequently than Grandfather Clock did. I also love the fact that this one has its own volume control sliders, and in fact, I keep them on the next-to-quietest setting when I'm at work, since I work in a college library, but I am required to go around and do a headcount at the top of every hour (or as soon as I can if I'm busy helping a patron at that time), and this app helps me stay on top of the time in order to produce timely headcount stats. Oh, and for an April Fools gag, I'm planning on downloading the "meow" parody version of this to play an April Fools gag on our dog to see how she reacts. LOL One minor complaint: A test button would be nice, and in fact, Grandfather Clock had this -- but like I said, its failure to sound on time drove me up the wall and led me to ultimately uninstall it.

5 ★ Finally this new version of the app works on android, I've been waiting for it for ages! And now you can also disable the chime... perfect! You guys have to fix the start menu though, because I can't open the settings, but it doesn't bother me that much... 5S!

5 ★ It's worth persisting if you have problems. Personal assistance and all. Very pleased, and I'm a hard one to satisfy, believe me.
1 ★ The user interface on this program is totally useless. Everything I tried failed. Those stupid clock things for setting quiet times are impossible to set the time you want. I gave up and Uninstalled it.
1 ★ This so called app is just an advert to buy the pro version; you cannot even test/try the app. Waste of time downloading!
