2 ★ Latest app UI revision removes functionality (you can no longer tap Manufacturer, tap Make, etc. That has been offloaded to the hamburger menu and now there is only one primary selection to tap - Manufacturer - which area now giant icons. After that, you simply see every vehicle from said manufacturer. For a mobile app, what you think you "gained" on the home screen changes, you lost on each subsequent screen.
1 ★ Just updated to the newest version because I had no choice. Now it pops up and forces me to input my zip code to search for a new car before it displays the menu at the bottom so I can go to my profile. Once I finally get to my profile and try to make a payment on my car thru you guys the app immediately closes down. Tried multiple times, same issues.
1 ★ The new app is terrible. The search filter keeps closing when I try to select options or doesn't apply the filter on the first attempt. I keep having searches turn up zero results even though the filter says there are vehicles fitting the criteria. Pictures take forever to load and general navigation throughout the app is slow and clunky. Just use the website - don't waste phone storage on this dumpster fire.
1 ★ Awful, just absolutely awful. Even when the app recognizes it's you and are signed in, if you want to access the account to pay your bill it will force you out of the app and onto the site, defeating the purpose of using the app. From here it will require verification and text/call with a code you need to enter. This can sometimes take a while and on top of that, 90% of the time when you enter the code it will freeze up and do nothing while not allowing you access to your own account and pay.
1 ★ Quite possibly the WORST update for an app. Slow to load, crashes more than it works and not intuitive to use at all. Terrible. EDIT: 8/3/23 - I can't even hit the search option without the app crashing EVERY single time. Terrible update, wish I could leave multiple 1 star reviews because this is ridiculous.
1 ★ I really dislike this app. The old one was so much better I never had an issue making payments with it. On this new one, I constantly get error messages. I get kicked off the app, and I have to try multiple times to actually make a payment. I have never had a smooth experience on this app. Get it together. Please fix the issues with this app.
1 ★ June 2023 update to the app gutted all of the functionality of the previous version. It now takes a lot more clicks to dial in the search results. App doesn't play nice if you use gesture navigation. Many times I think I'm dragging a slider, but I'm really swiping the back gesture.
1 ★ This is a case where an update actually makes the app worse. Could actually search for vehicles with mileage below a specific level. Now I can only limit based on what is above a certain level? I assume that was an error? If you don't want people to use an app, just get rid of it. The current version totally sucks. Garbage!
1 ★ Every update this app gets just worse and worse. Slower than molasses on a cold day. Makes me go through 2fa EVERY time I want to log in- even if i reopen the app multiple times in a day. Getting to where I can pay my car is buried away behind multiple menus, where it should easily be accessible from the get go. And now, I can't even get to the page where I can see my loan. After logging in it just shows a blue screen with a yellow button and no text. A properly painful experience.
1 ★ I have used Carmax for over 20 years. The experience and the app have always been great until this recent update. My issue is that it is now a major hassle to pay my account. I have to put my bank account in every time because it does not save. I have to restart the app when I post to schedule because it gets caught in a death loop. I can't even pay on one of my vehicles because the app tells me that I have found a technical error.
1 ★ This app is an absolute garbage heap. I'd give it zero stars if it were possible. The user experience and user interface is the worst I've ever had to tolerate. Either the app was never used by the team that made it or they didn't care to make it easy and painless to browse cars. This app is so clunky to use it may actually make me buy a car anywhere but CarMax. It's that frustrating to use.
1 ★ Terrible. The old app was great and very convenient. This app is garbage. Literally extremely slow, the functions don't work, and on top of that, I can't even pay for my bill on the app, just because its that's terrible. I can only pay my bill on the Internet because this app doesn't work for anyone apparently. It would get negative stars if I could post it
1 ★ Non-intuitve format and swipe controls are annoying and slow (since most recent update 2023). I like CarMax and I've always enjoyed searching for and saving my favorite potential purchases for the future. I love seeing horsepower/torque and the other vehicle specifications. Since the recent update to the app the entire interface has been changed to be uglier, slow to respond, buggy (showing vehicles that aren't available), and difficult swipe controls. Previous format was significantly better.
1 ★ Being able to make a payment through the app is absolutely terrible! Every time I try to login it will push me to the CarMax website. It forces me to sign in and then enter an authorization code sent via text only to kick me back to the home screen of the app and shows I'm still not signed in and my session expired. It does this over and over again. They make the interface easier for you to browse shopping for new vehicles than keeping up with the information and accounting for owners.
1 ★ Uninstalled! Use the website instead; The new version of the app is TERRIBLE! The old app, prior to July 2023 was pretty good. It was fast, intuitive, and looked pretty good. The new version released in July 2023 is a flaming pile of garbage. It signs you out, takes FOREVER to load anything, is not particularly intuitive, contains less information, etc, etc, etc. There is absolutely no reason to use the app instead of the site, and I'm someone who almost always wants an app instead of a site.
