Description
Control your grill from your phone
Tastiness is only a tap away! Use the Camp Chef app to connect to your WIFI/Bluetooth enabled pellet grill. You’ll be able to set and monitor temperatures, adjust smoke levels, and shut down your grill from your mobile device.
Monitor your cook
Actively monitor the temperature of your grill and meat probes on your phone. Set and enable pop-up notifications for grill timers or once meat probe goal temperatures have been met. Have the ability to connect and monitor your grill from anywhere, as if you were standing beside your grill.
Your data stored on all your devices
By creating an account through the Camp Chef app, your grill’s cook data is available to you at all times on all your mobile devices. Seamlessly switch between multiple Camp Chef grills. Historical cook graphs (coming soon) will allow you to view the results of a specific cook over time. These graphs will grant you access to information and insights allowing you to view what went well and what you would change.
Robust help and support

4 ★ Works well with one notable exception: if it slips out of bluetooth range for even a moment it will repeatedly demand to be re-paired. It should just reconnect and resume but instead keeps prompting and you can't ignore it for long before the app stops reporting status in a timely manner.
1 ★ Complete garbage. I'm less that a foot from the grill. Connect via BT. Then tried connecting the WiFi. Nothing but problems. BT worked at one point. Now after reset a few times in trying to get wifi working, now...nothing works. If you still want to by Camp Chef, I'd suggest not wasting money on wifi units. I had high expectations... Now, I regret buying Camp Chef period! Should've gone with Traeger.
2 ★ While I love the temperature and probe features of this app, it CONSTANTLY notifies me that "Woodwind is at desired temperature", sometimes 20 times per minute. I'll be notified more than 10,000 times for a 12 hour smoke. That is ridiculous.
1 ★ Setup is difficult, firmware update is near impossible, connectivity is inconsistent and can not set desired temp on probes!! Tada , I have a pellet grill. Just like the one I replaced but now I have an app on my phone. Oh, it does have the easy ash clean out.
3 ★ Works, although has some bugs. I have a galaxy s9. Says the grill lost signal but then I just go to the devices and re select the grill and it's fine. The app as a whole for sure needs work such as the UI and notifications.
1 ★ Wifi never works correctly. After spending an hour doing multiple updates, the grill won't stay connected. It connects and opens in the app before startup. I start the grill, and within 20 minutes the app disconnects. I try to reconnect but the app says it can't when the grill is running. It's absolutely impossible to make it work correctly. Total waste of money to buy the grill expecting it to work as advertised. I've tried both android and apple and both have the same problem.
1 ★ Original review - 7/2020: Doesn't connect at all to the grill. Given all the other reviews of a similar experience, take your money elsewhere and check out the Weber or Traeger smokers. Update 9/2020: App is still terrible. Leaving a one star. Grill works weel enough, but don't be too far away or get other wireless probes if you want to remotely monitor this grill. I'd get a refund on it if I could.
1 ★ Just bought wifi enabled Smoke Pro. Having same problems as others with wifi. Bluetooth connection is very sporadic. Keeps telling me to re-pair with my smartphone. Range is about 10 feet. Drops out at random, usually after a couple of minutes. Wifi connection has never worked. Refuses to hook up to wifi even though the system sees the network and allows me to put in password. the system has the software version 12.1 which it claims is good, but because the wifi doesn't work, it won't allow me to update the system. I even bought a wifi extender, but that doesn't help. I've reloaded the app, but that doesn't help. The grill itself is good, and the controls on the grill work well. Just that the extra $200 or so for the wifi was wasted. Camp Chef really needs to make it right. Customer service hasn't answered my email yet, and the wait time on their customer service line is over 30 minutes. Totally unsatisfactory.
3 ★ Decent app for the basics. Would LOVE to see timers, cook history, graphing for the pit and probes (temp vs time), and the ability to save settings for custom cooks. Lots of other apps have these features. Keep up the good work, but bring us a few more features to set you apart from those "other" grill companies. Grab it by the horns, if you catch my drift!
3 ★ Let's get the good out of the way first because once you get it running, the controls are pretty good. Everything you could want to control is there, temp, smoke level, and monitoring your 4 probes. There seems to be some response issues lots of lag after a button press and the sliders for temp seem really hard to get your finger on right (I have fat fingers, might be operator error.) Some "nice to haves" in the future would be graphs of your cook and maybe ambient temps? Not needed but would be okay. Now the issues. Initial set up was frustrating. You are emailed a 6 digit code on sign up but for some reason my app repeatedly skipped over where you were supposed to enter it and then I couldn't get a new code when I finally got there because of too many attempts and had to wait. Once you get this done pairing takes a little while but it didn't seem unusual. The problem I have now is: the grill repeatedly unpairs with the bluetooth on my phone and then asks for a new pair. Not a huge deal since wifi is working, just odd and a little irritating (not sure if this is the android 10 issue they warn about.) Finally firmware updates for the grill. Not a big deal either but it keeps asking me to do it even after they've been completed. Are there truly multiple updates that need to be applied instead of one big update? Or am I caught in some sort of groundhog day scenario where the app only thinks I need to keep updating? I may never know. Regardless, the app is not far off from being a 4 or 5 star and is super useful. I hope we see future updates and would definitely update this review if they fix the outstanding issues..
1 ★ Horrible app. WoFi doesn't work properly. Bluetooth doesn't either. No way to set temps for various things either even though it looks like you can .
5 ★ I am not sure what the previous reviews have shown for this application on Android. But I can tell you on my Google Pixel 4 the app works perfectly. I had no issues connecting the grill to my Wi-Fi and I had no issues with the application connecting to my grill. I even joke with my neighbor next door at his house about how I could change the temperature of my grill.
1 ★ Awful experience. I gave this a shot despite the negative reviews and ordered the retrofit kit for my 2018 Woodwind. After a few hours fiddling with this and my Pixel 4, I'm throwing in the towel. I was able to get Bluetooth to connect but WiFi wasn't working despite my router saying the grill connected. Camp Chef, I have historically loved you guys but you got seriously taken by whoever developed your app. If this isn't fixed shortly, I'll be returning this and taking my business elsewhere.
1 ★ Installed app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10. Connected to grill with Bluetooth and set up wi fi. No problem. What is a problem is the app constantly tells me I there is an update for my controller. I click OK, download progresses and the controller indicates success. Power off for 10 seconds and nothing changes. App still wants to do an update. I am on 1.3 1 right now. Tried to call Camp Chef but the wiat time is over an hour on three consecutive days.
1 ★ The app and controller still does not work on the Android market. I was told that CampChef is working with the Android developer to resolve the issues. It would have been great if they troubleshooted prior to releasing the new grill and controller. It works fine on the Apple platform but I guess they forgot to test their product on the Android platform. Here we are now in May. The app and controller are still not working on the Android market. I made the purchase back in November, 2019.
