Pindar (522 BC - 443 BC) was a lyric poet of Ancient Greece.
Born in 522 BC in Kynoskephalai, village of Thebes. He was the son of Daifantou and Cleodice. Customs and traditions of his family left their trace in his poetry and of course play an important role in the assessment of the relationship of the poet with his contemporaries.
