With native IFTTT integration, and a platform of dozens of apps, Automatic Gold connects your car to the services and devices you use every day, like Nest, Alexa and more.
► Automatic Gold knows what’s wrong with your engine.
A check engine light no longer means an expensive trip to the mechanic. With Automatic Gold, you can diagnose and clear issues immediately. Engine codes are explained in plain English, and nearby repair shops are listed for those issues that can’t wait.
That’s not everything! Trip tracking, vehicle insights, a web dashboard and more are all included with Automatic Gold.
Note: Automatic uses GPS running in the background while driving. This can dramatically decrease your phone's battery life.

1 ★ As much as I like the service, the huge inconsistency with notifications makes this service super unusable. I've tried multiple android and iphone devices and its the same bag of hurt. A quick read of Amazon reviews shows many have issues with unreliable notifications. for example i often don't get a notification that a car has started a drive, but then suddenly get one that it has ended a drive. Not very useful.
1 ★ I used to be a huge fan of this company, even convinced a few friends to grab one. then they dropped support and are turning off service for my device. so no I will not but your new device so you can charge me monthly fees and drop support and turn off the device when it's time for more money. running a company fail.
1 ★ They bricked the first version of the model and deleted the original version of the app from the play store. Horrible customer service. Do not invest in time or money with this product. I'm regretting that I did. I have 3 of these door stops now.
1 ★ I own a 2nd generation automatic device. I have not used it in several months, but decided to reconnect and download my diagnostic data today. When I downloaded the newest version of the app, I was led through setup only to learn that it would not support my version of the device. The newest version then instructed me to download the classic app, but Automatic has removed it from the Play Store. This will NOT make me buy a new device, but will instead make me avoid this predatory company.
1 ★ Not giving any more money. Don't deprecate hardware that is still working - building new features for more recent products with better tech is fine, but plain removing an app that supports an existing product to incentivize purchase of the new one is shameful. Would rate 0 stars if I could.
1 ★ Going to upgrade to a unit from a company that knows the meaning of support. The classic app should still be available, even if it isn't actively developed. Actually though, search for "Automatic Classic APK"... it still works I do love the stock response that this company is a fan of throwaway tech. With their attitude to long term support, I wouldn't buy another product from them in the future.
1 ★ Linked up to my adaptor for the first time in a while to diagnose a check engine light - was so thankful i had gotten this a few years ago! it was going to save me a dealership trip! Just kidding, my adapter is no longer supported, the legacy app can't be download, and the company's solution is for me to just buy a new one. Thanks for nothing.
1 ★ It doesn't work for Automatic Gen 2 and, contrary to what I read at the Google Play Store, no alternate app exists for that model...that I just bought. What a waste of money.
1 ★ If their past record is anything to be believed, they will drop support for this in >5 years. So, they offer an incentive then - the only incentive I get from that is to never buy one of their products.
1 ★ Ugh like others when this company moved around their app offerings they elimnates my connector. to add insult to injury they pulled their classic app too. Super lame. alreqdy ordered a traditional reader and wont be using this company in the future.
1 ★ New app doesn't work with original adapter. They pulled the old app just to spite their original customers. Avoid. Return your new adapter before the same thing happens to you.
1 ★ Used it twice for diagnosis. Very useful then. Now app says the dongle isn't supported by this app and to get the classic Automatic app. It gives you a link to that app. That app does not exist anymore. Steer clear. edit: dev answered below that app isn't available. I'm *keenly* aware of that, as that is my main complaint. Steer clear, or I guess enjoy it while it lasts.
1 ★ No longer supports my adapter. When I log in to my account, it asks me to get a new adapter, even though I paid hundreds of dollars for mine. The company removes old apps and make the adapter not usable. They promised a service to send help in case of accidents, but that's not true. I had 2 accidents and no help was sent. Not even a call. Find other solution. You will regret buying these adapters.
1 ★ Just like all of the others my first Gen product worked great but they no longer want to support their own product and want early adapters to pay to upgrade. Very disappointed with this company and the lack of service.
5 ★ Can pass DEQ in Oregon with device and app. I was an original crowd funding backer for their first device. I purchased the upgraded device as soon as it came out. It's easy to install and you now have a tracker device for your car. It's not an app for tuners but for everything else it's the best on the market. I've kept mine through two cars and have yet to experience a major glitch or shut down. You can download your data and have it displayed in a number of useful ways as well.
