4 ★ Love this app. It's easy to create routes and follow them - and it you want to go off your planned route, you have the whole OS map downloaded on your phone. I tour off-road a lot and the app is ideal. Yes, it has it's limitations, but I never get lost with ViewRanger. HOWEVER, it seems that in the future, much of the functionality will be forfeited by the merger (takeover?) with the wholly inferior OutdoorActive. My star rating for the app will decrease to 2 under OutdoorActive ownership.

4 ★ This has been my favourite and most useful phone app of any description and has no equal. Very disappointed that it is going. I have tried the OA app that VR users are being encouraged to switch to but sorry to say it's a very much inferior product and I can't see me using it when VR finally disappears. What a poor sell out.

5 ★ I love this app. It's a travesty that it has now been shut down in favour of far worse offerings. If the new owners still have the rights to this code, you'd be far better off dumping Outdoor Active and focussing your time on improving viewranger: it's a much better user experience and, by offering more features for free, brings people into the subscription. I came here to buy an annual subscription before I found out that it had been canned : zero chance I'm doing that on Outdoor Active.

1 ★ This has been wrecked for me by the tie-up with outdoor active. If you already own the maps/tiles you need you are possibly ok (for now?), but otherwise this app should now be considered obsolete - not worth investing any more money in buying more because who knows how long it will continue working for. Any previous investment in *buying* map tiles and making routes is probably wasted. If you are prepared to subscribe then - in the uk - probably just get the proper official Ordnance Survey App.

5 ★ VR used to be the best app for UK hikers. I am sad to see it go after all these years. Some open source apps like Trekarta and OSM are heading in a good direction. I exported all my content (excluding maps) to GPX then to Trekarta, just in case VR suddenly perish. I will stick to VR until it dies. I tried Outdooractive. Account deleted after few minutes. I am not going back there.

1 ★ The recent reviews say it all. Getting this during lockdown1 was one of the best things I did. Paid my 25 quid for os maps and loved it. Great interface. Now it just looks set up to rip you off. Reluctantly going to have to swap to the os app - interface not as good but at least I have the maps at easy and reasonable access. Hang your heads in shame for ruining something great.

4 ★ I love(d) this app. It's been instrumental in helping me find the wreckage of WWII aircraft on the Saddleworth Moors and the Dark Peak. It's such a shame it's 'joined forces' with Outdooractive (which is nowhere near as good) as a lot of the functionality and mapping has disappeared. 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' as they say...

5 ★ Great. I had it for years and have bought many maps. I can't see me using OutdoorActive so what happens to those purchases if they pull the plug on viewtanger, which they will.

5 ★ Does everything you need with the free version. Offline maps, speed, pace, elevation, graphs, distance to any point. You can import GPS files as well. Thanks for a great app.

5 ★ I have used Viewranger for well over 16 years now since the first Symbian versions became available for my beloved Nokia phones and communicators. Having all of the UK Ordnance Survey 1:50k & 1:25k on my phone is incredibly useful and well worth the outlay for the map sets. The App is highly functional and just gets better and better although I barely scratch the functionality that is avialable. I love this app and the only possible cloud on the horizon is the recent 'merger' with Outdoor active

2 ★ As the song goes, "It's all over now baby blue". It used to be reasonably good (sure, it had some glitches) but now, the merger with Outdoor Active, has proven the old adage that mixing 2 average products doesn't create something better, but worse. Shame, the developers should have left it, literally, alone.

4 ★ I like the app. It would be nice if when you plan a route in advance, not being near to the route, it could give you an estimated time to walk that route. It does give you an ETA when you start the route but only using your current position. When you're planning a route the day or a week before, it would be nice to know how long the walk would take.

2 ★ App used to be so good years ago... But sadly like many apps, it's now geared for profit, making you purchase map packages, etc. Maybe it's great if you spend 100$ on extras, but I just wanted a simple, mostly free hiking app...

5 ★ Excellent app. Good maps for walking with lots of public footpaths shown and good for measuring distance, altitude etc for walking and skiing. Updated May 21, I tried the outdooractive app but came back to viewranger, I hope I can still use it for some time because I will not be transferring to the new one again.

1 ★ This app was great. Have now lost OS maps after they merged with Outdooractive. OA app has large scale OS in pro version, but no aerial photography like VR and you can't easily import GPX in app. Having to look at alternatives after several happy years with VR - all the while wondering why break something that works.. .
