5 ★ I have loved audible since they started. It gives me the option to listen to books everywhere whether I am working the garden or in a moving vehicle. They are constantly expanding the type of books available which makes for coverage of a wide variety of interests. When younger I was an avid reader now age and decreased vision has changed that but audible allows me to continue with my long e of books. Recently they have expanded ded to in life free books. My 2021 oppinion has not changed.
1 ★ I'm NOT happy w/ recent updates. When I use the "Search" function to find an audiobook that I have already downloaded I am taken to the book description in the Audible Shop. I am given the options: "Play" & "In your library", if I click "In your library" I am taken back to my library list & NOT THE BOOK. I DO NOT WANT TO SCROLL THROUGH MY LIBRARY LIST TO FIND THE BOOK I HAD JUST PERFORMED A SEARCH FOR!
1 ★ Expensive, glitchy, bad product. Books will not play and crash the app on every attempt. I think the updates are part of the problem as this issue comes and goes every few weeks. Last time I spent over an hour on the phone with support trying to troubleshoot the problem to no avail; technical support never followed up my ticket and just ignored me. Classic Bezos low value service. I wish I could just get my audio books in mp3 format to play with any other app that works properly.
1 ★ Edit 07/2021: They seem to make the app slightly worse every update. You can't share progress anymore, or 'finished' book. __ I love audio books, but the app is frustrating. Clip sharing is gone. 'Home' is annoying. I just want it to go to my library, but it seems they've found a way to show ads now. I have to push play a bunch of times from the widget. I sometimes finish a book, write a review, and then it disappears and asks me again. Make it stop!!
1 ★ Glitchy, janky app. First let me say that I love the service and have been a happy member for nearly 2 decades. However, I just received latest update 2 hours ago, and now I cannot listen to books or podcasts - downloaded or streamed. Every attempt results in the app completely crashing! Come on Audible developers! This makes y'all look like amateurs...
5 ★ An excellent selection of interesting, informative and entertaining things to listen to. They mostly aren't cheap unless you are a member, which brings reasonably priced credits, freebies and good value sales to make it worthwhile. The audio quality is mostly good, not always great. The app is simple and doesn't rely on streaming - it's great for listening while travelling, when data signal can be patchy. The sleep timer can be set by minutes or to the end of the chapter, which is very useful.
3 ★ The only reason this gets 3 stars is because the store-side of the app is rather bad. The listening side does exactly what it should do but I find myself having a hard time getting the store to listen to what I'm tapping my finger on, and sometimes buttons will react like I'm pressing them, but they won't take me to the next page. I love using this app, and its helped me get back into reading, heavily. I just think *as a mobile app* it only does half of what its supposed to.
5 ★ A little hard to navigate when your brand new into this. But once you get then hang of it, and kind of personalized it to you and what you search. Once I listened to a couple books, it started to give me suggestions and boy it was off to the race's! Still don't understand credits and wat not but I do pay for a monthly membership and it tends to make books cheaper. So far so good!
1 ★ App does not sync with Alexa. Inconsistent and unclear membership policies that lead to a bad experience, such as they mislead you on their return policy. They lie and tell you there is no return limit when you join and then all of a sudden they decide they is and you can't return audiobooks for 6 months. Often Audiobooks don't sync with Kindle books and if they start having problems they won't let you return them. No toggle for day and night mode on Android phones but they have it on iphone.
1 ★ Nothing but good experiences before this week, as the app seems to have stopped working. I spent a bunch of money on a library I now can't access. The customer support phone number didn't help: after a long process of reinstalling, clearing my data cache, signing out, etc. (in different order), I was told that the problem is with my internet connection (what??). Totally disappointed. Wish I could get a refund for the books that I was told were "mine to keep".
1 ★ *I cannot live without Audible!* EDIT: Well, that was a few months ago! Since then this app has given me nothing but trouble. I have deleted and re-downloaded it many times, I have spent hours and hours with different persons on their chat... All to no avail. It was operating satisfactorily for two or so weeks just recently, but then it reverted to being inoperable once more. I wish the Audible IT dept would get their finger out and fix this. PLEASE do something already!
4 ★ I have used other audiobook apps and I'm honestly surprised at the lack of options here. An auto rewind feature is almost necessary, when you pause a book they are usually in the middle of a word or sentence so I have to rewind 10 seconds everything I play it again. This is a standard feature in other apps.
4 ★ Only one complaint - they advertise you can return an g book, for any reason, at anytime. I have returned several books in the 15 months I've been using this app. Always less than 60 minutes into the beginning of the stories. I received a nasty email from Audible telling me I have abused the return policy, and my ability to return books for credit could be suspended. So, their advertising is a bit off.
1 ★ Horrible to cancel membership. So difficult. I hate it so much. As you try to cancel you are bombarded by screens upon screens of advertising and difficult hidden buttons. You can join with one click, but to leave it is a challenge. My guess is a lot of people don't have to time or attention span to navigate through the cancellation process and end up paying a monthly fee unnecessarily even without using the service.
5 ★ I was never really sure about audio books. So I tried one on a free trial, now, 10 books in I'm hooked. The audible app for android is very easy to use, it's a smooth and quick download with very intuitive user interface. If you've never tried audiobooks I sincerely suggest that you do give it a try and the app makes it easy. Highly recommended
