What's new in Kanji Fix 1.4
Adds "support" for Android 7.0
Kanji Fix is no longer required on Android 7.0+. Instead, add Japanese to your language list in Settings > Languages & Input > Languages. This will apply instantly to all apps. You can still use Kanji Fix to verify the list of Kanji look correct.

Description
Android renders Chinese glyphs by default when the system language is set to anything but Japanese. Kanji Fix changes the order of system fonts in Android 4.1 and up to prioritize Japanese Kanji over the Chinese equivalent.
Root access is required!
This should be a last resort method to making Japanese Kanji show in apps instead of the Chinese default.
1. This app changes system files. As a result, OTA updates will fail. You will need to revert before applying an OTA update.
2. This can make other unicode languages look awful, including Russian.
3. 4.4+ fixed Japanese font rendering in WebViews (Chrome, Wanikani Mobile, and other apps), although this is still required for apps using native fonts with native TextViews.
Make a backup if concerned about data loss. A restart is required after applying to see the updated glyphs.
See the screenshot above for a comparison of the different fonts. An alternative font, IPAGothic, is provided for a less "rounded" font, and can be installed by selecting "Install Alternative Font" from the menu.

Allows applications to access information about networks.
Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.

2 ★ Although the app didn't help me to change the fonts, it helped me figured out how to do it. Don't know if the issue is related to my Android version (5.0) or something else, but the font management was made in /system/etc/fonts.xml instead of /system/etc/fallback_fonts.xml, so the app was trying to access the wrong file. Might have worked for other Android version

5 ★ Of only we didn't have to do this in Android, but it's good to have a utility that makes it easy to fix. Maybe someday Android will allow us to decide for ourselves what fallback fonts we want to use when reading Japanese or Chinese, but I won't be holding my breath on that one. それで、アンドロイドの漢字を直してくれたありがとうございます！
