The night prayer, when the prayer is done after sleep, is called Tahajud prayer, meaning to wake up night. So if you want to do Tahajud, you have to sleep first. The night prayer (Tahajud) is the custom of the people who are always in their hearts side by side with Allah SWT.

God Almighty says in the Qur'an:
"At night, you should pray Tahajud in addition to you. May Allah bring you a place of honor. "(QS: Al-Isro ': 79)
Tahajud Prayer is the prayer that is required for the Prophet before praying five times mandatory prayer. Now prayer Tahajud is a prayer that is highly recommended to be implemented.
Sahabah Abdullah bin Salam said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "O mankind, spread your greetings and give food and prayers night when man is asleep, that you may enter Paradise safely." (HR Tirmidhi)
According to Prophet Muhammad SAW:
"Most of the prayers after the prayer of fardhu are the prayers of the sunnah at night" (HR Muslim)
Time to Implement Tahajud Prayer: When is the prayer of Tahajud implemented? Actually, the time to perform the Tahajud prayer (Shalatul Lail) was established since the time of Isya 'until the dawn (all night). However, there are major times, namely:
1. Very important: 1st 1/3 night (Ba'da Isya - 22.00)
2. Greater: 1/3 the second night (22:00 - 01:00)
3. Most important: Last 1/3 night (1 am - Dawn)
 
According to a valid statement, at the time of ijikah (the prayer was granted) it was the last 1/3 night. Abu Muslim asked his companion Abu Dzar: "Which time is it better for us to do the night prayer?"
Abu Dzar's friend replied: "I asked the Messenger of Allah as you asked me this." The Messenger of Allah (sas) said:
"The remaining night's stomach is the last 1/3. Unfortunately, very few people do it. "(HR Ahmad)
 
Bersabda Rosulullah SAW:
"Surely in the evening there is a time (time.). If a Muslim asks for a goodness in the world or in the hereafter to Allah SWT, Allah will surely give it. And it happens every night. "(HR Muslim)
 
The Prophet said again:
"Every night our Lord Tabaraka wa Ta'ala descended (to the skies of the world) while staying one third of the last night. He said: "Whoso calleth on me, will I please his supplication. Whoever asks Me, I will accept his request. And whoever asks for forgiveness to Me, I forgive him. "(HR Bukhari and Muslim)
 
Total Raka'at Shalat Tahajud:
Night prayers (Tahajud) are not limited in number, but at least 2 (two) rak'ah. The most important thing we have is 11 (eleven) raka'at or 13 (thirteen) rak'ah, with 2 (two) raka'at shalat Iftitah. The way (Kaifiat) to do good is every 2 (two) rak'ah ends one greeting. As explained by Rosulullah SAW: "Pray that night, two-two." (HR Ahmad, Bukhari and Muslim)
 
Priority of Tahajud Prayer:
On the virtue of Tahajud prayer, the Prophet said one day: "Whoever performs Tahajud prayer with
preferably, and with a neat order, then Allah will give 9 kinds of glory: 5 kinds in the world and 4 kinds in the hereafter. "
The five priorities in the world, are:
1. Will be maintained by Allah SWT from all kinds of disasters.
2. The sign of obedience will appear to be visible.
3. Will be loved by the devout and beloved servants of God
all humans.
4. His tongue will be able to pronounce words of wisdom.
5. Be made wise, that is given understanding in religion.
