Description

The Iridium communication satellites have a peculiar shape with three polished door-sized antennas, 120° apart and at 40° angles with the main bus.

Occasionally, an antenna reflects sunlight directly down at Earth, creating a predictable and quickly moving illuminated spot on the surface below of about 10 km diameter. To an observer this looks like a bright flash, or flare in the sky, with a duration of a few seconds.

This app displays in real-time where is each Iridium satellite, predicts when these flares will occur from the observer's position and allows from the 3D locator, locate the exact point in the night sky.

Gets the data needed from android device (accelerometer, compass, location) and from the following urls:
www.celestrak.com and www.heavens-above.com

2 ★ Garbage, can't track the Sat. Only seems to care about flares..jerky.

1 ★ (For me anyway) I have a Galaxy S6 Active. I was SO excited for this app and it just didn't work: The compass was way off, and nothing seemed like the description. Great idea tho!

5 ★ I have managed to amaze and impressed all the village people by correctly predicting the exact timing and location of a bright light flesh (ie an 8 magnitude flare). ;) I'm loving it

5 ★ UI is a little rough, but the app itself works perfectly for predicting flares. The alarm and augmented reality viewer are excellent features.

5 ★ Works great on my Note 4, but will not show the path of or the iridium location when trying to view while using my Tablet.

5 ★ The guidance feature is super helpful, especially if you don't have horizon measuring tools. As others have mentioned, the UI shakes a bit, and stabilizing would help, but AWESOME app! :)

5 ★ Works great on my Huawei Ascend Mate 7. Shows 99% accurate position of the Iridium flare. Trust me this is the best app I have come across so far when it comes to watching Iridium flares.

3 ★ The map view doesn't work! Only for this issue I'd give 5 star.

1 ★ I can't endorse this app. It runs in the background and I can't stop it starting when I restart my phone

1 ★ This app tells you the wrong times.

5 ★ This app is a tool to help you see an iridium flare. You need to know what's up to sort that out innit

1 ★ Totally unusable interface.

3 ★ Cant find preference menu. Doesn't fit screen maybe?

5 ★ Love it

1 ★ Moon
