4 ★ Love most of the features of this app, except that there is no search option! I ended up buying the book my daughter wanted on the regular kindle app, because I didn't want to scroll forever, trying to find book 2! There is several other books in the series available on the app, so I'm sure book 2 was in there somewhere, but it doesn't even group the series together to make it easy! :/
4 ★ I really love this app now that I've figured out how to use it & what all it does. I love the control I have. It is easy to make adjustments to any one of my children's profiles from any device I have the app on. I love that I can set up a reading goal that has to be met before videos can be watched. My only wish would be to have a chore app tied to no screen time too.
1 ★ We used FreeTime on Kindles for months and love concept, but the Kindle Fires have zero memory management and had other issues that made them frustrating to use. So we changed over to a Samsung Galaxy Tab, but this app is horrible on Android. There is no search function and none of the included apps (the reason we spend the money on it) are there. I'm less than impressed. If Amazon fixes those two issues, we'll be back.
5 ★ I love this app! It had a huge smile on my face when i found out they cant watch YouTube without my supervision. And to avoid the bad stuff i exiled YT all together including search engines like google and bing. This app is simply amazing. I love it and recommend it to all parents!! :D
3 ★ Family link is much more intuitive. But, the books available are fantastic on freetime . There really needs to be a search function, though. And an option to allow reading past a certain time while apps and videos made unavailable. My kids love to read themselves to sleep.
2 ★ This app works great on Fire tablets, however Fire tablets are garbage devices. Trying to use this app on a standard android device removes the ability to access apps and games from FreeTime. Search is also gone from non Fire devices, which makes using the parts that still work hard to use. Kid loves it when it works but it is such a hassle when it doesn't.
1 ★ App is garbage for Android, lots of functions missing (Kindle fire has all free time options). There is another app I use to control kid content. Like free time unlimited is ok, but better off buying apps and having kids use those
1 ★ I'm not able to review this app on the Fire Kids tablet so I'm doing it here. App is terrible and full of bugs. Not able to open apps and constantly getting an error.
2 ★ Good idea. not so good implementation. I signed up for the trial Freetime Unlimited which gives your child access to appropriate Kindle unlimited content. While technically she did get access to the content it was basically unusable as there is no search function built into the app so we were unable to find the books that she is excited about. There is also no way to assign unlimited content to your child from the parent portal. It just ended up being frustrating. Uninstalling.
2 ★ So this is great in theory, however it needs to be WAY more customizable. It's super annoying that the audible isn't synced with the other dots in the house. So, for kid to pick up on their kids dot where they left off in the living room they have to know exactly what chapter they left off on. Pretty ridiculous when all the other dots sync fine. Additionally, for setting time limits you only get "weekdays" (M-F) and "weekends" (SS). Well, don't kids generally want to stay up a little later on FRIDAY and then need to go back to the earlier time on SUN? Yeah, that would have been preferable, or even better have settings for each day, but no. Now i have to fiddle with it, which defeats half the purpose. Also, adding music content is ridiculous. We have several amazon music playlists, definitely not recognized by voice on the kids dot and no place to add them from the app. At all. The music content section on the parent dashboard only has a toggle for y/n explict for spotify. That's it.
1 ★ Doesn't come with any of the free time apps you're supposed to get with the subscription. The home screen loads nothing most of the time and you can't search for anything while also not having any variation of what you see, so you're endlessly scrolling through the same lineup of content with no way to specify what you want, while it constantly reloads and makes you start over. The best part about the app is that your kids can't get out of it and that only works if it doesn't crash, which it regularly does. If your home screen is functioning you want to declutter your favorites, get ready to wait five seconds and for it to reload and then scroll back to your place when it brings you back to the top after removing every individual item.
2 ★ This is a great concept and the app has a lot of potential, howver, at this time the app is a disaster. There is no way to serch for titles or sort books by genre or category. Furthermore, the font in some books is so small that it is virtually unreadable.
2 ★ I'm very disappointed with this app. In the iOS version there's a search feature, but not for Android. There's a lot of content and vague genres, but you can't find anything specific, and there's no feature to bookmark a favorite of any variety. When we start to read a chapter book, and come back to it, it doesn't hold our place. Also its "large print" feature is formatted very poorly. Even when it's activated the print is typically still very small, and or doesn't fit the content box. Most of the books' font size cannot be customized.
1 ★ Browsing through amazon for books for my 11 year old, I see 'free with Freetime Unlimited' and find out it'll only cost me $3 a month. Great, take my money. Only problem: Freetime unlimited is useless. Can only view content in the app - but you can't search for content in the app, you just have to view whatever they decide you should view. Help says there is a 'teen mode' but it appears that is only on an actual Fire tablet, not on an android phone. Good idea, terrible execution.
4 ★ Concept is great. Love that kid can get into the app without assistance but cannot get it off the app without a password. Little bit of a learning curve to use but has great potential
