1 ★ I am both a host and a traveler on airbnb for some time now and have to say that the application has become borderline unusable recently. While hosting, the cache doesn't clear after you make changes to pricing or booking restrictions. Messages also don't populate at the time they are received which has cost me several thousands of dollars in lost bookings. When traveling, you are now FORCED to select one of 60 categories to try and book a place. Just show me all the listings as default. Fees
2 ★ Trying to book is very unstable. It asks you to add a message to the host, then a pic, and each time you do, it drops the previous info, and you have to start again. I added the messsge a pic and the insurance, and even after the 3rd time, the reservation dropped the pic and the insurance. Well, at least the message went through,... I think.
4 ★ The new update took away my ability to read my past "Notes" on my calendars. I can see that there is a note because of the little dot but I cannot access or read the note. I liked the option but since I can no longer access notes it defeats the entire purpose of having notes. you might as well just take the feature away all together instead of letting us spend time making notes that we can't go back & read later. Now I have lost all the data that I inputted into the notes on my calendars.
1 ★ I had to cancel a trip because of travel restrictions imposed during COVID19 (2020). AIRBNB gave me 'credits', that are NOT visible on my account. Fast forward 3 years later, they give me a reminder 2 months before they expire that I had money in my account (without any indications that I had credit, or any expiry date). I have 2 new kids now, moving in a few weeks into a new place. Kinda of last minute for AIRBNB. Thanks for taking my money. DO NOT USE AIRBNB
1 ★ The wishlist feature is broken on this app. You can ❤️ a listing to add it to the list, but you cannot remove listings from a list once they are added. Also, there are multiple fake listings out there, especially in popular places like Hawaii. Agents just lost every condo and have them available any time, but in reality, many are sold out.
1 ★ Horrible customer service. I reported a fraud use of my credit card that showed up as an Airbnb reservation number. The customer service wouldn't tell me anything except for that it was likely a friend that I had traveled with in the past. I contacted everybody I could think of to figure it out. But Airbnb refused to help. They also have refused to help collect deposits when people have destroyed my property. You're better off to go with VRBO and stay away from Airbnb as they only care about $$
1 ★ Horrible customer service if so.ething goes bad. No assistance if you book early,and the host decides to cancel your appointment before your trip and you are stuck paying the price hike right before your trip. If the places are not as advertised then they dance around the issue and the app makes it impossible to get one person to handle anything that may go wrong so everyone will point the finger at someone else or they will just say there is nothing they can do to take it up with the host.
3 ★ The app is good and I will be using it again in the future, however when it came to verifying my identity to book a place to stay I needed a passport, driver's license, or visa and I don't have any of those things. I have other government approved ID's and contacted support to see if I could use those instead, but they don't take anything other than those three options, so I will not be using this app again until I get one. Very inconvenient.
1 ★ No "search all" in an area feature makes this app nearly useless! Many just want to find a place to stay in a geographic location and don't care if it's in the "ski resort", "BnB", "Tiny Home", etc category. An absolutely horrid way that arbitrarily confines searches and likely kills your revenue due to customer frustration. Fix this.
1 ★ Absolutely horrible experience with a Host and even worse experience with Support. Never using AirBnB for my personal or business travel again. Would strongly encourage everyone else to do the same - I had good experiences in the past, but the last bad one was horrid enough to regret ever giving them a penny. I wish I had listened to some of the horror stories I'd heard from other people.
1 ★ Every time there's an app update, features disappear and everything gets glitchier. App was totally gutted this year in an endless myriad of ways. The most recent issue is deleting the ability to price long term stays uniquely by any number of days, weeks, or months. I know the length of stay pricing got moved to the calendar tab, but now there's only weekly and monthly rates and no option to customize to specific numbers of days, weeks, or months. Also, can no longer see messages while typing.
4 ★ As a host, it does what it needs to do. But the messaging module is annoying: 1) Text box is too small, displays only 4 lines, so you can't see what you wrote above that (unless you scroll the message). 2) The "send" button is within the text box. It's not difficult to inadvertently hit it when scrolling the text or trying to relocate the cursor to edit. Either move it, or at least allow a confirmation b4 sending. Aug 17 update: messaging module still annoying. (See above)
2 ★ Edit: since Air b&b is ignoring me, I lowered my rating to 2 stars. I very rarely leave reviews on apps. I think this is a very convenient app and easy to use and I am a long time Airbnb user. However, the major irritation of the photos area is infuriating. You cannot reorient the pictures, nor can you zoom the pictures. This is an incredibly easy fix and I have no idea why these features are not enabled LIKE EVERY OTHER APP IN THE WORLD. Fix it and I will up the rating to five stars.
4 ★ Overall, it works pretty well until you send a property of interest to friends. Once they look at it and do a sample booking on the property, the Airbnb app uses it's algorithm to immediately increase the price before you book. This happened to me today when I waited 5 minutes to book it. They added another $100 to the price. It is incredibly frustrating. I guess you have to make a rash decision right in the moment to get a good deal.
3 ★ After attempting to make a reservation, the Airbnb app said I needed to verify my identity. That's all fine and well, except the app didn't allow me to return to the verification page after accidentally closing it. The app stated I would have to complete the verification by following the steps in an email. That email never came. When I canceled and attempted to re-book the reservation, the app said those dates were no longer available. Other than that [not minor] annoyance, the app works great.
