Description
You need a media player app to play tracks. This app enables you use volume button to change current song.
Press volume button ONCE for changing current song.
Press volume button TWICE or more in quick succession to change the volume.
Some phones kills background processes when screen is off.
So PLEASE disable battery saving feature for this app so app can work as specified. You can check your phone documentation for more info.
Your device will vibrate briefly when app changes song. You can disable vibration from app.
App permissions
Skip by Volume 2.2.3 APK requires following permissions:
Allows applications to open network sockets.
Allows applications to access information about networks.
Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.
Allows access to the vibrator.
Permission an application must hold in order to use ACTION_REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS.

3 ★ Doesn't trigger unwanted apps anymore, however it's very random if it works or not. Probably due to android memory management, unfortunately of not much use.
2 ★ Wouldn't it be more logical to map the prev/next actions to long press, and leave the single press for volume? And why does volume up skips to the previous track, instead of the next? If you look at Cyanogenmod and Gravity Box, they both implement this feature as I described. Also, it would be nice to have an option to hide the ongoing notification icon, or make it a low priority type.
4 ★ I use spotify in the car all the time, and I keep having to switch on my screen to skip songs. So far I've survived, but this is obviously very dangerous. This app works perfectly and could very well save me from wrecking my car, or worse. A bit of a shame you have to open the app and leave it open for the functions to work, but I suppose that's an android limitation.
1 ★ Cannot stay active in background. every time I should run the app and should be careful not to press back button because it will disable. Of course back button doesn't mean closing an app for Android. As a reminder Double tab on back button means closing an app.
