1 ★ My experience is similar to others recently reporting that they are no longer able to stream. I have had a ticket with AcornTV for over tow weeks now and the only responses I have gotten is that the AcornTV tech support is very busy. I have tried all the troubleshooting on my own that I know of. The issue isn't just with one device, it is with Windows PC and two Android devices. We simply can't stream anything. Have been with AcornTV for over 2 years and loved the service. With respect to tech support from AcornTV it makes no sense to wait any longer. I am cancelling my service with AcornTV as they continue to bill me but not fix the problem.
4 ★ Almost perfect. The subtitles when changed to default don't work. You still have to turn them on every time you watch something. And the next episode of the series doesn't start when you finish the first, makes it a little harder to binge. But really good value for money, so many shows I didn't know existed. Great stuff.
1 ★ Was my "go to" app on my Samsung tablet until the upgrade and now all I get is the message that it "cannot load stream at this time." I followed the troubleshooting instructions to no avail. I emailed Support, but all they did was copy and paste the exact same information from their website. And while I can cast shows from my newer laptop, the video quality is poor and it's constantly buffering. I'm annoyed and frustrated with the lack of customer service.
2 ★ This app worked perfectly on my tablet in 2020 at the beginning of pandemic. Went back to work and cancelled subscription and app. Now ready to renew subscription and downloaded app again... it will not stream any shows on my Android tablet. Can watch shows on my desktop (desk chair not that comfortable), but prefer using tablet. Sent developers techs all my info for tablet and have never heard back. Guess I'll cancel again and watch British shows somewhere else.
1 ★ Update 05/13/21: I'm downgrading to 1 star, since I can't go any lower. I am now unable to use my tablet at all as of two nights ago. I tried clearing the cache and signing out of my account and back in, as per the instructions under Support, but now I can't log back in as it just sits there.
2 ★ I loved the app and the shows, it was ny favorite. They did some update now I can't use at all. I pay for s year at a time.. because I loved it so much. They really need to get this issue fixed soon. I have gone thru all the first techs advice. Still can load anything. They said they would get back to me last week. I have not heard anything. I am kind of glad it is not just me getting this error. So maybe then they will get it fixed sooner rather than later.
5 ★ First, I read some reviews. I was disappointed but felt I had to try. I installed Acorn TV to my phone. Subscribed, then tried to watch. ( Really wanted to watch Misomer Murders and Murdoch Mysteries.) Only trailers on my phone. Recently purchased a smart TV with Chromecast, so I tried installing Acorn on it. Not sure if Chromecast helped or not. IT WORKS! Enjoying it immensely! Bingeing on Midsomer Murders this week. Next week, Murdoch Mysteries! Thank you!
1 ★ It used to be a wonderful app and I had absolutely no problems whatsoever but after your latest update I am unable to stream anything at all except for maybe a trailer. I've tried all of your suggestions from your help support with no luck. I used to be in SW test so if you guys can fix what you broke I'd be happy to give it 4 or 5 stars. Thanks!
1 ★ I have been having the same streaming issue described in the recent reviews. Have had an open ticket with Acorn support since March 3rd. Having worked in IT, I can with credibility state that being unable to resolve a problem critical to the app operation is unacceptable. Roll back the upgrade to a configuration that works. Also, for future upgrades, test adequately all the scenarios before rolling out the upgrade. Have been a customer for several years. Very annoyed.
2 ★ This used to be terrific app. It would stream, flawlessly. New upgrade is ridiculously backwards. Now, nothing loads or streams. Have followed the suggestions to try and make it work, it does not. Now it appears to be charging everyone the monthly fee, yet no one can watch a single show.
3 ★ At the last Acorn update, I lost the capability of watching Acorn on my Amazon Fire. Three requests to developers have not solved the problem and now I don't receive responses. The stars are strictly for the shows which I can only view on my phone. I am not far from canceling Acorn and signing up for BritBox
2 ★ Great content. App needs work. 1. Doesn't return to "resume" episode in series. Have to find series (season), then find the episode. 2. Streaming gets choppy after about 15 minutes - must completely close, wait a few minutes, restart. Much prefer to watch on my laptop in the browser. Cannot watch in the browser (Firefox) on my tablet because "the media used features your browser does not support".
4 ★ Pretty good app. Could wish for more user friendly functionality like easy preview of where I left off watching a series, updates on new episodes, year an episode aired, etc. I expect they'll get there eventually.
1 ★ Great for 8 months. Then an error message about unable to load stream for every show I tried but trailers played fine. Emailed Support with full details about devices, reinstalling the app, and how long I had used it without any problems. Took over a week for them to reply. The reply was how to find and download the app on a variety of devices! Clearly a generic reply without reading my problem
5 ★ Great shows. Difficulty getting shows to play if wifi signal isn't super strong. Occasionally says I have no connection but I do and it plays rather intermittent, closes, I reopen, plays, closes, . .rinse and repeat.
